The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I am getting 0-4 a day out of about 80 hens. A couple of older hens are still laying and will be sorry when they finally molt. Out of this year's batch I am getting 2. It is just enough for us.

That's amazing @speckledhen , a 11 year old hen still laying. My oldest is 8. She lays a few a year. We don't eat them though, who knows where they have been?

I didn't have any pullets this year so my youngest are 1.5 year old.

for me till the end of January I imagine. :(

I'm in a pickle. My younger SIL sent me this email just now, after seeing the mandala throw on Blue Roo Creations:
How much is the throw you made? The round one

Um, well, I was sort of going to give it to her older sister, who was the one responsible for me learning how to crochet. I may end up making a second one in slightly different colors in order to give one to each of them. We have a family dinner on Dec 17, first one after they all lost their brother and though we don't participate in the seasonal stuff, it's the only time we see most all of them and we occasionally give them something I've baked or made, nothing wrapped.

Uh oh, you better get busy again.

Already on it! Another excuse to buy more yarn. She said she saw that her DIL thought it was beautiful when she commented on it, so she was wanting to buy it for her. So, I guess I know what my niece-in-law's family will be getting and I need to make another one for my older SIL, who shared the BRC post, which is why this got started. I should have said it was not for sale, oopsie. I hope my fingers hold out!

Thanks, Mary. My main issue doing crochet is rough fingers. I try to keep them "sanded" and smooth, but with all the chores, I am not a manicure kind of gal. So, I have issues on occasion with picking up the yarn.
Same problem here. You will never find me doing my nails, ever. :hmm
