The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Aw such good dogs. When there are dogs I see nothing but the dogs.:yesss:

I miss them, especially Kes. Cody was a barker, Kes saved hers for real emergencies.

This is the dog at the Humane Society that looks sort of like her, except that his tail is only a half-tail, not sure what happened to it. They're calling him Miles.

Mom named all her quilts too - they are, after all, each an individual.

Little Henny Penny's feathers have started opening a little, she still looks like a porcupine though. I think she is getting a little lonely, and does not freak out every time I sit and talk to her. Yesterday when it was in the 40's I left the garage door open so she could look outside.

Back down to 14 today, but very windy. When I looked out over the water earlier I saw a huge snow devil swirling out over the water, I thought it would dissipate quickly but it did not, and was still circling when I went inside after a few minutes.

So sad people take their dogs to the pound. I cannot imagine ever doing that. It is devastating to them to be abandoned. He looks like a good boy. Most people don't truly understand dogs. They are like perpetual 5 year olds.

All my dogs have no tails, we are a tail free house, well everyone has a stub or nub, so I guess that's still a tail.

It's freaking freezing out there. I hate being messed with by mother nature. That warm up just spoiled us, now back to brrr.

The drop hasn't happened yet, but it's coming in the next few hours. It's 61* in the barn, which means it's probably in the low 50's outside still.
Here is a pic of his tail I found, looks like before he was neutered. I don't really want another snowflake. I want a dog that will at least bark and make a show of sounding/looking mean if a stranger breaks in, not one that will say, "Hey, what treats did you bring me?", LOL.

And my Kes, so you see why I was drawn to him.

That's a nice looking dog! Are you thinking of adopting?

I would consider it, but Tom is reticent still. I can tell you that if I am left here alone and widowed, there will be a dog here, a BIG dog. This dog is very sweet and friendly, though I hesitate to choose a dog that I have to keep away from the chickens. He's untried with chickens as far as I can tell, though one of the main foster parents has chickens and can say if they are good with them or not if it's one of the ones they have.

I wonder what the best "scary looking" dog breed would be a good friend but still make folks think twice before approaching.

Some of the livestock guardians are pretty scary looking it seems. Wonder how they would affect outsiders?
