The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Kara, your remodel is awesome, my dear. Hope you enjoy it now.

When we had the remodel after the fire, we replaced our humongous island (5' square with storage on both sides) with a much smaller one with three huge drawers. We loved having more floor space, made the entire kitchen seem larger.

What do you think? Here is the original kitchen:

Ready for some soap opera drama? Not my drama, but close enough-it's my older son. Apparently, my DIL has been having a cyber-affair with some 30 yr old guy from England with a 2 yr old daughter and has plans to leave the U.S. around October. Someone at my DIL's work is guiding her step by step. She was already taking $$ from their account and opened her a new one, something I told my son to do the first time he caught her messing around with guys online. I told him to start putting his paycheck in his own account, that she couldn't be trusted. He discovered that she has filed for a divorce at the courthouse, some sort of thing for people who can't afford to pay for a divorce where you give your expenses and income and have to get approved. I never heard of it myself.
Supposedly, she is leaving him the house (quit claim would fix that) but wants to take Ghost, the first dog they got, to England with her, says he's her dog. Sophie, the white Shepherd, is very attached to Ghost and very needy, much like Kes was, so the self-absorbed, two-timing wench is, again, being very selfish. She complained he was married to his job, you know, the one she got him stuck in from the start because she refused to wait any time at all for him to find a real job? I knew she was trouble from that point onward. She is 9 years older than he is, at least in chronological years. Otherwise, she never made it past 13 years old, it seems to me.

Her sister came down on her side unexpectedly, because she's "blood", and it blindsided Michael. So, she is supposedly going to go to England in Oct now to be with her 20-years-younger boyfriend, will sell her Sorento that my son has been paying for for years before she goes. He says he doesn't know how she'll survive. He regulates her meds for her migraines and even buys her monthly female supplies for her. That guy in England is stupid to allow her around his daughter, but he'll find out. Just desserts for him messing with a married woman. Bet she'll come running back begging my son when this all blows up in her face. He'd better not even think of taking her back or he doesn't have the smarts he was born with, I tell you.

And there is a huge bombshell we never knew, that we found out last night. My son's soon to be ex-wife has an older sister and a much, much younger brother, like 18 years younger. He was barely a teenager when they got married. We found out last night that he is not her brother, he is her son! And he doesn't know it. He was born when she was 18, was adopted by her parents as their own child and has never been told. He's in his early 30's and married. I hate people lying to their children. This is going to devastate him when he eventually finds out...and one day, he will. He will also be angry with my son for helping keep the secret. I would be.

Wow, sorry about all that. I thought England didn't allow American dogs because of the rabies thing, but maybe I'm thinking of another country.

That's what I thought, too. I thought there was a 6 month quarantine, but my son said it's not in force anymore. I would have to check on that. Seems to me that there must be something in place to keep that dog here.

Sounds like she can take him if she follows the requirements. Darn.

Definitely don't want to put a dog through all that upheaval and travel.

That's you and me, who would think of the animal first. But, this is a selfish, self-absorbed, me-me kind of person who wants what she wants and if she doesn't get it, throws a tantrum. She's your age, Lisa, for cripes sake! My son is 41.
