The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

How scary for your son. Definitely see if he can get on Cobra, if applied for within a certain time it will be retroactive to when his insurance ended. It’s expensive, but probably a lot cheaper than the ER and needed treatment.

And I’m sorry Emily isn’t doing well. I do love hearing of the other hens keeping a vigil with the dying chickens, shows how much they can really feel.

Lisa- I’m sorry for the loss of your polish :(

I think the problem with Cobra is that it was not his insurance, but hers. He was on hers and she quit the job, wasn't fired (at least, from this one). If she was offered, she probably refused it. I'm not sure they would offer it to the family members who were on her policy.

Emily managed to get onto the roost bar last night. It's very low to the ground, but she had enough balance to jump up and sit there. I haven't been out yet this a.m. to check on her.

We mentioned to Michael that he may want to think about something, especially with his health issues happening now. If he, God forbid, died before the divorce was final, the house and all his assets would go to her. We said he should think about a will and even a living will right now since he has no wife to decide anything of that nature. He said he's already thought of that and should be able to get something from LegalZoom, I believe the same place he got his quit claim deed for the house.

I have not seen anything from that woman lately since I'm blocked from even seeing her FB page at all. She's blocked several who are just friends of my son simply because they disapprove of what she's done so she's burned a lot of bridges here.

Emily is doing okay today, but I'm making a point to check on her more than usual.

Glad Emily is doing better. Well, considering the ages your chickens attain, maybe not so much. I don't mean that in a bad way, but they seem to hang on a lot longer than they should, and don't make way for newer, younger stock. It's sort of a double-edged sword. Glad Michael is still thinking ahead. It's a good sign.

Yes, greed about the longevity factor. I've said the exact same thing on my videos. Good thing about better stock: they live longer. Bad thing about better stock: they live longer (and non-productively). But, I hope Gypsy lives to be 20. She's my heart, that hen. She's turning 11 in a few weeks, hasn't laid in about 3 years, I think.

Emily is a good hen, but never was super personable and neither is her younger sister, Gloria Jean. I call GJ "personality-free", LOL. Neela and Alice have always been super friendly and sweet and just very pretty hens to have around. I'll miss those two for sure, and Tiny will probably outlive them all, the crazy nutcase. I actually think Alice has laid a couple of eggs this year. Neela hasn't in quite some time.

Nothing going on but a few innocuous posts from her"friends". Looks like she uses messenger mostly.
Figured she was being a little more private. I did see something on the Instagram about her being a "bored little girl, LOL" with those cartoon character representations of herself. Why would anyone who is setting up a new life in a foreign country be bored? I mean, you'd think there would be no time to be bored. Ought to be working at a new job, at least, right? Yeah, the fantasy life is crumbling. I just hope it limps along until the final papers come through.

Just found out today that our other son, Chris, graduated from Trinity University in Dublin with his Masters of TESOL with mark of distinction, an honor only granted to one or two maybe 2 people in each department. Now, I think he's wanting a position at the university in Seoul. He seems to really like it there.
