oldhen, sorry about the shoulder. Hope you can get it resolved quickly, without too much discomfort.

No goats for me. I already know their antics can be a lot for an older person, like myself, to have to deal with. I have enough husband, and grandbaby antics to deal with already.

Thank you. Recovery seems to be going well all things considered.

I have stopped going in with my goats as they will take advantage of you, pushing, chewing, and are generally too rough on me. My husband battles it out with them.

No goats or ducks here. Nope. One of the girls I worked with thought it would be fun to get a couple "little" goats and let them run free at her new place. After I stopped laughing, I had to explain why I thought it was funny.

I was curious and looked up the Mackinac county population - 10,700. And there is not a single stop light in the county. Nearest Wal Mart, TSC are 25 miles away. But just like out West, people think that is just a pleasure drive. It would be heaven except for the long winters ( there are still a couple stubborn snow piles along the driveway), but I guess that keeps folks away.

Stores are about a half hour away here too. It is a nice drive some days.

I would not want free roaming goats here either.

I got a comment on a video I did back in Nov 2017, so I watched it again, not remembering what all I said, and the pics at the end made me tear up. I sure miss Big Ike.

Thanks Cynthia. I missed you pretty videos, and birds. Your property is so nice. I see why the chickens like your porch.

My chickens are everywhere too. I haven't had much luck keeping chickens out of places. Fencing works most of the time, but occasionally a bird gets an idea in their head.

I find the more friendly the bird the more likely they are to come looking for you.

I have chicken mobs. Mobs of happy, friendly chickens, LOL. Though, they rarely come onto the porch anymore now that most of that group is too crippled or old to go that far and climb steps. Georgie and Tiny still do from time to time, though. They remember those days. Neela and Alice and June do, too, I know but they're just old and feeble and don't go up without some fearless leader to encourage them up there.

Yours are such sweet birds. A got a few that like me but most just see me as the feeder, which is what I prefer mostly. I get greeted by hungry mobs hoping I'm bringing them some goodies. That I enjoy.

I have lost most of my older birds in the last few years. It's sad to not see them anymore, but it's also good they don't have to go through our rotten winters which are harder on them.

I remember feeling that way when Isaac passed away suddenly on a warm September day, that he did not have to suffer through another winter with his severe leg issues and risk more frostbitten toes from poor circulation. Still miss him. I miss most of my birds, I guess, but some definitely more than others.

Speckledhen I think it may have been my comment and am sorry it made you tear up. I love your youtube channel. I have been reading this thread for a few days now, I think I am almost to page 400. I have been learning alot and enjoying the pictures. But most of all I have enjoyed you all's friendship and chit chats.
I have been a member of BYC for a few years now but, I don't comment much. I had 6 hens a few years back and lost them all to predators. Took a break and proofed the run more and started again this spring. Thank you all for helping me be a better chicken mama

Oh, no, not at all! I was just a little nostalgic seeing pictures of my Isaac and his ladies, most of whom are still alive, tromping around the deck. Sure miss my guy. Happy to help! I'm glad you're enjoying the channel and this Atlas thread.

Funny you should say that! I have one that calls for me all morning and would be very happy to be carried around all day! Very demanding.

I probably spend too much time thinking about all the critters I've had and lost over the years. Some definitely get to you more than others. I try to keep chickens at a distance but many become friends to me. I suppose losing a few favorite critters in the last year contributed to some of my depression.
