The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

everyone got wormed. They are not happy with me tonight!
One of my poofy heads has been having her feathers yanked out on top of her head. I've tried various things like ickthammol (bad taste) but still happens. Does anyone have an idea to stop this?

Yeah, what Mary said. I used to try No Pick stuff, but they seemed to like to eat it, LOL. My poor Jane has a bald head from Zara beating up on her. Jane is so submissive that she squats for Zara, who then grabs the back of her head and pulls feathers. And Jane just healed up from having her scalp pulled open by Jill. Always with the bullies...

Dang deer crushed my garden fence in two places jumping in to snip off the tops of my pea plants and strawberries. They can jump an 8' fence, yet, they can't seem to actually clear a 6' one, for some reason. I need a second run of fencing 3' out from the first one so they'll stop that nonsense. I keep hinting that a dog would keep them out. I think a Sheltie might be a great deterrent, not too big, good in colder weather because of its coat, loves to herd, very trainable, etc. halo always had Shelties with her chickens. She fed them chicken parts when she processed cockerels. Yeah, I know they bark a lot. And I am not a huge fan of heavily coated dogs, either, but they'd sure keep the deer at bay.
Tom doesn't want another dog, partly because he thinks Finn would get snippy and leave. I told him that if it as a puppy, Finn would tell it who's boss.

That's awful!

I had deer he!! in NY. We lived on a years old deer trail (we found out). One night they came and beheaded 80 rose bushes! I took 15 of them into the back yard and threw the rest away. Then I used electric fence and ran the strands (4) at different heights and spaces on one side of the property. They ran thru it a few times and kept going, LOL and eventually stopped trying to get in that way. Then they had the horses on one side, the house on the other. I got to plant whatever my little heart desired after that.
