The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Thanks to all of you for checking in! I was just out taking a few photos of the little monster. I promise that I won't bore you with them on a daily basis, but was trying another camera setting, the sports setting, since they move around so fast, it's hard to get a non-blurry photo.

In the first photo, at the top is one of the barred pullets. Could have just as easily been a single barred male, but pullets would be easier to find homes for. I'll keep just one of these barred girls, mainly so Atlas won't be without a peer group in the flock, but I'm not sure how they'll turn out.

There are good meanings behind his name, all of which fit well, but the best one is a story that Ladyhawk will tell you when she gets time. Other than the story of the first Atlas, the other meanings are:

Atlas
1
. a Titan who was forced by Zeus to bear the sky on his shoulders.
2. a person who supports a heavy burden; mainstay.

A rooster certainly does bear a heavy burden, especially a free range rooster.

Nice big girl!

I was really angry but had a good laugh today. I am a member of Indiana Poultry (Facebook). I usually only post if someone needs help or support.

Today I realize that my comments have been blocked until further notice. (?) No idea. So I go to my "account" and it says that I am being "punished" because I posted chicks for sale. So I did try in May of 2019. Needless to say it was never posted because they didn't want people posting stuff for sale under "for sale" just list it under plain conversation. So it was actually blocked. So I kinda gave them a "you must be kidding", then a bit of not so nice, then I posted if that's the way it is I really don't have to be a member anymore.
I would really like an apology or at least "OoPs, sorry!".

It's not the Indiana Poultry group. Facebook initiated a policy, and are the ones restricting you. NO animals can be listed for sale, as such, on Facebook. You could have said you had chicks, anyone interested PM you. As long as you don't mention they're for sale, or how much, it's ok. Anyone asking the price, you have to tell them to PM you.

#2 humorous irritation. I started posting on this other BYC thread about ******. It was kind of fun in the beginning but it had so many posts I didn't have the 4 hours a day to keep up with it. Any how like everything it got off topic several times, no big deal. First it got off topic about food, eating, recipes , growing vegetables. And went off topic about a few small things, like chickens. no big deal as long as it's not political. However for the past few days it's gotten sad, talk about depression, pills, spouses, obesity, a few more people join to tell their long sad story. On and on for pages. It's just …..well you can see it used to be fun and now it's like sludge. I think I shall move on. It used to be good to pass the time while in lockdown. Not anymore. I chuckle about it now!

I know it's Facebook and there is no selling , but on that site there has always been lots of selling that is allowed with this group as long as it's posted as Regular Conversation. I learned that a year ago when I did have chicks and those posts were blocked under "for sale" and they told me I have to post sale stuff as normal posts.

Anyhow my post with the chickens had been blocked and this was May of 2019, and this comment block has been for the past few weeks and not on the 3 other Indiana sites .

This was a whole year ago in May 2019 and my comments are restricted now? Over a post that was blocked and never showed up?

seminolewind, a couple weeks ago, I got an apology from Facebook. Apparently, over a year and a half ago, they blocked one of my posts as having violated community standards. I was given no notice, and didn't even know it. The thing is, it took them over a year, and a half, to even check it.

Thanks for telling me that. Boy oh boy, they should be out there chasing bad guys!

The Facebook Nazis are very unthinking creatures. I posted hatching eggs for sale and they said it violated community standards because it was an animal for sale. Um, never saw an egg walk, sorry, idiots. I had an item for sale in a regular yard sale site and it wasn't anything weird, but the comment "Still avail" was shut down as "Adult sexual" something and said it was a no-no. WTH? So I said "Item is still available for sale". They're morons. I hate FB so much. They allow you to form groups that even say "SALE" in the name for animals but then they slap your wrist if you try to sell them. Why not just don't allow it in the first place, the group I mean?

Oh, Cetawin was not here, Karen. I posted an old story she told, just quoted her. She hasn't been on here in a long, long time.
