I would like to join in here please, I have a broody hen in the nest at the moment, unfortunately the eggs I wanted for her fell through so I am now waiting on some day old light Sussex chicks that someone else is hatching so I can slip them under her, they are due to hatch on Wednesday I think so fingers crossed. Btw any advice on giving her the chicks would be great

I have eggs that should be going into lock-down this weekend. Unfortunately we lost power with storms and not sure how bad that affected them. Out of 18 I only have 6 that we fertilized, and only think 2/3 have continued to develop.

I got my order of chicks fromMeyer this morning! Sadly 5 of the 15 I ordered were dead when i picked them up One is still having a hard time. She hasn't drunk for herself i have been giving her water from a droper and she just finally started to peck for food but most of the time she has her eyes closed and is standing still while her head just droops. I told my family that this will probably be the first and last time I get shipped chicks.

Thanks The one who was havig trouble is doing better, after about 6 hours of givingnher water I added some hard boiled egg and probably half an hour later she is walking around eating and stealing food from the other chicks!!! I will be posting pics soon! I think I have taken about a 100 already lol

Hey! I'm new to the thread and my broody has 10 eggs under her due 2 days after Easter! I'm SO excited I check on her a billion times a day!

Glad to hear the chick is on the mend, sounds like she is a tough little cookie.
I got the message last night that my chicks were starting to hatch, i was so excited, should be able to pick them up tomorrow afternoon.

I have an order of 19 chicks coming from Meyers due to arrive in the morning. It's my first order from Meyers...keeping my fingers crossed for no DOA's.
I ordered 2 Blue Andalusian, 5 Rare Marans, 3 White Cochin, 4 Barred Rock, 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 2 Black Australorp, and a Meal Maker. I'm really curious what Marans I'll get, and what the 'Meal Maker' will be.

An update on my order that arrived this morning from Meyer Hatchery... Out of 19 chicks, 2 were DOA and 2 additional chicks died within a few hours. The rest seem to be healthy and active.
