The first person who says eat them...

I'm in the same boat as you rt now. We get 25-30+ a day now from our 35 hens. I'm going to put an eggs 4 sale sign beside my mailbox this wkend and see if I get any bites from my neighbors. I am also going to talk to my neighbor who own a "mom-n-pop" gas station & see if he'll let me sell them at his place since I'm overrun with eggs rt now. I know it's a blessing to have this many eggs, but I don't want them to go to waste either. I've put an ad on craigslist recently too. If that doesn't work I'm going to look into local food shelters or churches in my area. Would those ideas be something that might work for you too? Silkiechicken & rooster-red, you're hysterical!

By the way, if properly stored in the refrigerator for instance, eggs keep for a very long time. My grandmother didn't have a fridge and she would keep them for at least a month in a cool area. They were perfectly good. Fortunately it is easy to tell, when an egg is bad.

I share them with family and friends. I never have to many. I even have a guy that trades honey for eggs ! HMMMM I think I get the better deal !!

PA Friend...What kinds of chickens do you have? I want to get some more Mille Fleur hatching eggs too. I live in PA.

I say put a sign at the end of your driveway. I think you might be surprised how many people are interested.

I would take a dozen with you when you are at your kids events (ballet, b-ball, etc.). It will generate discussion......and you will get customers. I have gotten more customers when I am delivering to another person and am asked why I have eggs. You just need to make your eggs more visable! Hope this helps!!!!!

Your cats and dogs will be nice and shiny. That's what I do with any quail or chicken eggs that I'm not sure how long they were sitting before collecting. Small local feed stores will often sell them for you. The store in town always has boxes and baskets of eggs filling the front of the store.

Don't make them too visible. A lady down the road from us has a nice shed with a frig in it and a self pay station and she has had people pull over and steal large amounts at once.
