The fiscal cliff

Obama wanted anyone making $200,000 to pay more taxes and the Republicans wanted it at $1million they settled on $400,000. So the Republicans saved more small business owners from higher taxes. Where do you get these ideas ?
You are right, sorry, my mistake, that was part of the "Plan B" talk that they tried to push through, but failed...

Obama wants no compromise. I think he wants to shut the Government down and then blame the Republicans. When he says the debt ceiling is to pay for things we already got he's lying. When he said it was like going out to eat and then not paying the bill. But no raising the debt ceiling is so we can go out to eat again and put it on another credit card.
I would like for anyone that thinks we should raise the debt ceiling without also cutting spending to go to their bank and tell them you're spending almost 40% more then your income and you cant pay your bills so you would like a loan with no maximum amount so you can keep spending the same. Then time how long it takes the banker to stop laughing.

During the election people complained that he compromises to much. Now it's the other way. It’s like this, the republicans pushed for 3 wars over the last decade To secure their own self interests: banks, big oil, pharmaceuticals and the military industrial complex. They pushed us wayyyyy into debt and now they want the rest of America to pay for the debts they built up waging 3 pointless wars. If you ask me the debt should be paid by those who reaped the benefits…banks, big oil, pharmaceuticals and the military industrial complex... etc...

It was his people that complained he compromised to much. I don't think they should have extended the Bush tax cuts. They were intended to last 10 years and then end. And he had 2 years to remedy anything he wanted to with spending and taxes. So when you wonder why we don't have something like pay and go (or whatever it was called) ask Obama and the Democrats why.
Do you have a retirement account or mutual funds ? If you do then you own big oil, pharmaceuticals, banks, and the military industrial complex. So make sure you pay your share back.
What 3 pointless wars did the Republicans get us in to ?

Best way to start compromising is to stop making this a republican verse democrat issue. We need plans that work and are smart economically that do not have anything to do with political party preference. What's done is done and we must move on. The American people have been selecting which puppet they want for quite some time now.

This argument makes me think of this bumper sticker. Especially when people are either "Democrats are good no matter what" or "Democrats are bad no matter what" and the same with republicans, I just had to insert something that made me smile.
"Obama is not a Foreign born, brown skinned, anti-war socialist who gives away health care. You're thinking of Jesus"
I think if it was a republican president doing these things, the debate would be the same, but with people on different sides.

What I see is Obama trying to compromise at first and giving in too much, now he is standing his ground at this late hour, and it may be standing his ground too much. The republicans right now are caught in an internal struggle over playing for the team which means adhering to a strict almost extreme standard that appeals to an older whiter more religious generation, and those who want to be more moderate and appeal to a broader base. Obama has been trying to appeal to a broader base, but that can make him appear inconsistent. The republicans are trying to hold hard to their Bush era politics but that makes them appear extreme.

And then we have the political pendants who appeal to their listeners only to the point that their listeners only live in this bubble of information to the point where they see anyone with an opposing view as an idiot, outside/minority, or "the enemy"

Meanwhile little is getting done in this polarized government because of grandstanding in an effort to appeal to the vocal few. The majority of the moderate Americans with varying views on both sides are caught in the middle and are being drowned out, so that the government officials, who live in their own bubble, and the rest of the world, only see this extreme side of Americans.

It is a worrisome trend. But then, that is only my view on this.
