The run through the forest was short and quick. In just a few minutes the forest ended suddenly and the ground dropped out from under their feet in a steep, jagged cliff. Lilith didn't break her stride, instead, she simply ran over the edge as though it was the most normal thing in the world. At the same moment as the ground ended, she unfurled her wings and dove, heading straight down.

He followed, nimble footing easily found for his feline build, and the fall not unlike many in land from which he originated.

As Lilith was small and slender, she sliced through the air like a knife, only opening her wings when they had fallen a considerable distance. As she leveled off, she headed due North, cutting a straight line over top of the forest below.

High above them, another shape was watching them along with their mother. His dark gaze flicked back and forth between the two kids and the mother as he floated lazily in the cold air.

Karen was unaware of the unknown, still watching her kids. After her husband had been killed shortly after her brood hatched along with all of her babies besides Connie, she found Jason abandoned and took him in as well. They were the only two things left that gave her purpose, although she longed to find another husband and bring a few more joyful kids into this world.

He followed, just behind and to the right.

He decended to a slightly lower altitude, now only a black shape which could hardly be seen through the clouds.

Lilith didn't speak, nor turn to look at him as though she refused to acknowledge his presence behind her. Below them, the ground rose and fell, exposing jagged cliffs like the one they had dove from and steep rocky canyons that seemed to fall away into blackness.

Karen saw it and became slightly weary of it, though decided it was just a large bird. As she continued to watch over her loved-ones, she kept the whatever-it-was in mind.
The dragon simply hovered there, his large wings holding him in the air without even needing to flap. Then, as quickly as the dark shape had appeared, it was gone.
