The Fricken Chicken story!

Falkor
My big beautiful EE boy. We started off butting heads, when he first come here... He like to sneak up from behind and spur me. We get along now.. For the most part.. :lau He has earned his right to live out his days with me. I've seen him fight of racoons, hawks, and he saved his GF Goldie from a coyote. He is an excellent protector, and throws the most stunning hatches. He is also great with the young chicks.

Spur you?! Well he has some long spurs!

Oh yeah, he isn't very fond of me lol 😆 he never bothers the kids (still don't trust him with them) he adores my husband, but me and him have had our ways. He honestly HAS gotten better, now he is older and the testosterone isn't so intense 😆 He is fantastic in every other way, great with chicks, young chickens, and protective of his flock. He is even pretty forgiving with added roosters too.

I do trim them now and then. But I try to leave him have them for protection from predators! I do however worry that they will bother him or the hens. When it comes to that, Ill have my husband remove his spurs.

What a sweet boy! He just took a nap on my lap for a half hr while the kids played in dirt. My daughter just loves him too

Goldie
Goldie come after my first 3 pullets. I think she is a RIR. She has been through a lot in her short life. She recently was attacked by a coyote, and still recovering. She is always trailing behind everyone else. So she gets targeted by predators, more than my EEs. She is such a laid back hen. Lays me some giant brown eggs too!

Beautiful hen, even though she got attacked.
