Wow CPL that's quite the group of Pavs! Alex thinks they look like the costumes on the planet of the apes so he call them his monkey birds. They do have rather large eyes as chicks. Do they keep them as adults?

Where did you get your Sulmtalers from? They are such pretty birds. I can't help it I like those crested birds too!

Lets see Blue Breda and White Bresse, but can't quite make out the last ones. Does that replace most of your losses? I sure hope you caught the varmints. I hate raccoons!

I might have a "farmette sitter" to train up so that I can go away for weekends etc.

A friend of mine and coworker's 13 year old son with autism is enthralled with animals. (He is very high functioning and he comes with a supervising father.) My friend has brought his son over several times and he loves the chickens. His father thinks he is dependible enough if we are willing to train him on how to care for them. I like how these people are raising their kids and am thrilled to help them in giving him an increasing responsibilities.

so we will see. I think he will do well.

I also think that the father has been getting pressure from the wife & son to GET some chickens and this is sort of a trial thing for that, too.

ohh nice all around! Id love to find a farm missing kid around here to come over while we are gone, right now we don't really go away over night, sigh.

Yea on farm sitter in training.
Well got the chicken shuffle done tonight, now tomorrow night clean brooder and move chuck. Will have to put down a Rhodebar this weekend, hopefully its big enough to process with the others. Sad thing is I think it was our fault it happened after a leg band issue. Dang it.

sorry to hear about the rhodebar. nobody is perfect...don't beat yourself up too much.

The good thing is we have more cockerels than we need so stew pot for some because we are not selling Rhodebars roosters at least till after next year, trying to control the market. Nobody as far as I can find has Rhodebars, CL or several more and we figure on the autosexing we will not sell roosters for at least a year.

We caught the snake that has been eating our eggs!!!! My poor Broody only has one egg left...dang snake has stolen her others (which is what clued me in that we had a problem)...I need to candle it and see if it is actually growing
