The Front Porch Swing

Hi BM6!!! Glad to see you!! Take it as easy as you can ( which is impossible for you Im sure) but o put those pregger feet up...you guys need it!! I emailed Rachael a few times telling her not to send my swap chicks out as Ive been done for 6? Weeks now...its gets COLD quick here :( wanted to know what to do? Lol...Dh and I had a wee falling out over my um...collection? I have cut my flocks in half :( he has not been feeling well for a while and the 10 minutes itvtakes for him to deal with them in the morning has proven to be too much

guys...what babies.

my husband came down on me, too about how many chickens I have and now he is bugging me to put a couple eggs under my poor broody.
(snake ate her eggs) problem is I have all my chickens running loose together and she's already been sitting for a couple weeks on the eggs that the snake ate so I don't have time to isolate some into a breeding pen and wait. so if I gave her any of my current eggs they's just be mutts.

but I guess mutts could be fun. hmmm....decisions decisions.

Flocks,
Nothing smells yummier than home-made spaghetti sauce except the toasty garlic french bread that MUST be prepared to go with it.  LOL

Unless of course it's fresh home baked French bread! I love bread. I also love baking. Wish my stupid hands would work better. I used to make some really cool braided breads. That's the side effect of having a polish grandmother that owned a bakery.

. I love our mutts! I think they are the best. They seem to live longer, lay longer, and stay vibrant longer. I vote mutt. Oh wait I don't get a say. Ok my opinion is everyone should have a few special barnyard blends. Come on Psanki if hubby is all for more hatching take advantage of it!

YUM! Bakeries around here do not understand French bread. It is soft and squishes when you cut it instead of being nice and crusty. I likes my bread with some crust and chew to it. My whole family thinks Wonder bread is the best stuff ever, and I can't stand the gummy, soft stuff. I want a nice hearty, crusty wheat bread. Bread and pie crust are two things I can't do. I love to bake cookies, etc. My relaxation when I was a SAH mom was to make the intricately decorated spiced sugar or ginger cookies. I went so far as to use toothpicks to apply icing in the just the right way. I always make about 6 different types of cookies and gave to all the neighbors. I really miss that time. I have the world's best oatmeal cookie that is made from a spiced dough that is rolled and refrigerate and then cut into slices and baked. A friend of mine from college got the recipe from her Polish grandmother. I may just have to make some this weekend if the nice cool weather holds. My only addition to the recipe is that occasionally I put in butterscotch chips to give it a little extra sweetness. I'm sure Gina's grandmother is rolling over in her grave at the thought.
