Very nice tractor!!!! I will need one of those next year. looks very functional.

I have been dealing with work issues and ex-coworker issues (the one that got fired keeps trying to call me and e-mail me)
I am probably going to have my hours cut at work soon...business is just slow. so I am having trouble sleeping.
I looked at the want ads and determined I need to get retrained and then I looked into how much schooling costs and decided it wasn't worth it.

sigh.

but the chickens are all doing great and no losses since we put up the fence!!!
puppy still needs the fear of god put into him...wants to chase.
need to make some nesting boxes in the new coop...I think they are going to start laying any day now. combs reddening up.

Thanks for the compliments. I hope my Silver Penciled Breeders love it as well. I still have to design my nesting boxes and paint it.

She actually showed up at work yesterday demanding to talk to the vice president of the company. The front desk people didn't let her in.
seriously, she is scaring us. I may have to start wearing body armor to work. (actually, I am not one of the ones she is mad at, but stray bullets...you know?)

Wonder if they make body armor that is thin enough not to be noticeable in work clothing. (I am kidding...really I am)

Hi all!

We had a horrible unbearable thing happen the other day. Alex and I were on the road side of the of the brush and trees that grew up in the old fence line. Harvey girl my one eyed turkey had a nest in the brush. So does Cora. Anyway Harvey came out to see what we were doing and a truck on the opposite side of the road came over and ran her down. Killed her about ten feet from us. He could have killed us too. He drove into the ditch just missing a tree to murder my baby girl. Alex and I were and still are devastated. I cannot express in words the horrible sense of loss.

It happened so fast and I was so focused on saving my son I didn't get any pertinent information for the sheriff, but his response was rude and without an ounce of compassion. I did not call them. My hubby did. I would never bother to call them again.

We are still dealing with the gut wrenching loss. This was the turkey that had been injured as a poult and was stuck with us as a flock because of her injury. Harvey was the one that would come in the house and head straight for the cabinet where the meal worms are kept. She spent much of her youth in the house having her wound cleaned and rebandaged or just hanging with us. She will be sorely missed.

We do have some of her eggs in the process of being incubated. One is due to hatch any day now and the rest are under broodies, so she will still be with us. We also incinerated her carcass and buried her in the garden between the cherry trees. Harvey was one of the few turkeys that would never leave our farm.

We hope karma does its thing with the jerk that murdered her.

aww I'm sorry flocks!

People do this at my bf's moms house all the time. She'll have a Guinea or chicken run out into the road or be in the ditch and someone will purposely run of the road to kill it.

Yes it was on purpose. He drove into the ditch over 6 feet to kill her from the opposite side of the road. It makes no sense to me why a person would do something so cruel and right in front of us too. He could have hit something, lost control and hit us! Harvey never saw it coming as it was from her blind side. It's pretty flat right through that area, but still was dangerous. I sure wish he would have hit the tree instead.

She was a very very special girl.

And we finally have a pip on one of her eggs. These are her eggs, not another hens that she was sitting on. Harvey had the most beautiful eggs. Hurry up and hatch little harvette.
