Oh I wish I could post a video!  Kendra walked today during physical therapy!  Jenny had her by one hand and Cindy (her therapist) had her by the other and she walked almost the entire length of the living room!  Oh, I'm so excited!!

That is so wonderful to hear! Keep a camera close by, I'm sure she will do some more walking soon

Thomas is making incredible improvement too

He just started signing consistently. He's actually caught on that "more please" gets him things

It's sooooo cute. He signs and says it "peas mor". He's accepted into speech therapy at the local university, starting that mid September AND we got a re feral to Easter seals so we have an apt with them end of this month. Momma gonna be busy!

Ms Milly is getting to be LOUD, she's a very vocal baby. She squeals and vocalizes loudly, started full on laughing recently. That girly loves her dad.




I had one of my 1 1/2 year old hens for dinner last night. Slow roasted her... she was delicious! Good to know I can slow roast a hen

Glad to hear that Thomas is picking up the sign language. I have heard that kids can learn sign language well before they can speak, and a friend of mine had a grand baby that knew sign. She was very good at the "more Please" also, only hers seemed more of a "more ****-it" when she wasn't getting what she wanted.
I hope everything goes well with the speech therapy and the Easter Seals stuff.

Talking to my little sister last night and I mentioned that the new place came with guinea hens, and she paused and asked " can you eat them"? I told her yes, but these are so old you wouldn't want to. She said " I think I have eaten Guinea hen. And if it was guinea hen, it was delicious and I had a lot of it." It was then that I realized she was talking about her time in Africa in the Peace Corps. They are an African bird, so I wouldn't doubt that she might have eaten it. She promised not to eat mine when she comes to visit.

It took Thomas a YEAR to finally catch on to using "more please". He knew "more", and would use it if coerced, forced, bribed etc. and usually only with the therapist.

Now he's doing it all day.. answering all questions with "more please".

"Milk?" more please! (even though he hasnt had any yet)

"Movie?" more please!

"Want a piece of chocolate?" peas mor!

Boy cracks me up..

I played with some of his toys we used for therapy and for once I was actually getting similar results as the therapist. Wonderful.

Oh this goober about chewed his new hearing aid piece in half.... he's had it a whole two weeks

Hubby says it's still ok, but I can clearly see the crack all the way around. He has learned "mor peas" without hearing aids, proving he's not THAT deaf.... I really need him to wear the aids though but AAAARGH, It's like trying to put a sweater on a cat.

That's so wonderful that Thomas is talking and using sign more! I'm sure it makes him happier to be able to communicate more. Exciting.

It's taking Kendra forever to sign consistently. She does "more please", "chicken" (I taught her that one!), "all done", "thank you" and "want" but "more" is done the most, and like Thomas we have to bribe, force, or coerce! She's speaking some words with the signs now, though. Then every once in awhile she'll say a brand new word, correctly and in the right context, then never repeat it again. Little Stinker!

I love doing the same things the therapists do with Kendra too, and just like you I get excited when the reaction I get is the same one Cindy, Andrea or Lisa get. When Katie was first diagnosed with Autism, I'd write down the things the therapists got reactions to and then buy two of them - one for Jenny's house and one for mine. That way the input Katie got was identical from all of us. She stayed with us when Mom and Dad were working so I had more free time to work with her. Jenny just got hired as the assistant cook at the school here, so I'll have Kendra while she works, so we'll get back into that routine again because it was so helpful to Katie.

Any way to mend that crack in Thomas' hearing aid? You are absolutely right that he needs to keep them in, if for no other reason than to allow them to become part of his everyday routine. Good Mommy!! Those are two really sweet, adorable little ones! Cute picture of them!
