The Front Porch Swing

This looks so weird, but it's efficient.

for what its worth If you know horse husbandry and have a good working knowledge of driving its just a gentle step forward to taking it to using horses to work with you on your land... here is a team of Fijords plowing The team is hitched to a farm vehicle called a forecart. Forecarts may be attached to just about any implement appropriate for the team to pull. In this case a harrow.

I have a draft horse sized version that has a bench seat not tractor seats. Its a heavy beast to hitch by yourself but well worth it.

Hi everyone. Haven't been on in awhile. We held the Celebration of Life for my husband Doug yesterday. It turned out really nice and the predicted rain didn't happen. I had such a wonderful surprise. Bee and her mom drove up from WV. It was so good meeting them in person. Today I am emotionally and physically exhausted. Hopefully my life will settle into what will become normal for me now. I am getting a routine for the farm and for now plan on keeping it. The day the cows escaped, my favorite cat went missing and various other disasters happened II was ready to sell it all, buy a motorhome and drive across the US visiting places I always wanted to go. I would miss the animals too much so that is probably not going to happen.

Take it one day at a time. No one expects you to make life decisions right now and then be able to follow through. Slowly re enter the new normal that is life. :hugs

That is a wonderful surprise. Bee is the person to have when you need a strong friend.

If you ever do decided to sell, I have a sweet online friend, an older lady, who has been looking for an apprentice of sorts. Someone to live with her and help with homestead chores. She has chickens, a beautiful garden, does a lot of fermenting and such. She's an absolute wealth of information. I've never met her in person, but I so adore her.

She's my Facebook Bee, so to speak

She's in New England, I believe Virginia.

Just throwing it out there. I would jump on it in a heart beat if I were alone.

I'm glad you had so much support at your husbands celebration of life and that it went well. Thank you for letting us know, were all rooting for you. I'm glad your getting things done around the farm and a routine down. I know one bad day can throw you off, but one day at a time. If you do decide to sell it all and travel, I want LOTS of pictures! Lol. One day I want to drive around the US and see everything.

dinner tonight

Frozin Tilapia fillets
Panko crumbs
bacon grease
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Dill
Lemon juice
smoked paprika
steam in bag frozen peas

It sounds odd but it came out wonderful.

In a microwaveable container (mine is a nine by nine square casserole)

Sprinkle a layer of panko crumbs Just enough to not be able to see the bottom of the pan.
Scoop bacon grease in teaspoon fulls and dot the panko crumbs about two tablespoons worth.
Salt pepper dill garlic and paprika on the panko crumbs. squeeze lemon lightly over the top.
Layer of frozen Tilapia. Squeeze lemon.
Salt pepper dill garlic and paprika on the fish.
Panko crumbs to cover dont have to be very thick dot with bacon grease just a bit on each fish... lemon juice
Layer of frozen Tilapia
Salt pepper dill garlic and paprika....
Panko.... lemon dots of bacon grease...

This should come pretty much to the op of the pan.... cover with saran wrap

Pop in the microwave 5-10 minutes. fish cooks quick keeping it frozen gives you some wiggle room.

When its done pop in the peas per instructions. when they are hot toss them with lemon juice and butter.

Using a steel spatula serve it up as if you were serving lasagna. the panko crumbs act like a kind of savory glue betwen the filets.

You will NOT taste the bacon grease except that the panko will be very yummy.

Every pan came clean as a whistle... No bite was uneaten.... Yay.

I never thought to cook fish like a casserole. Hmmm..... Next time my husband goes fishing, we might need to try this!
