That's why they are trying to ban the woodstoves. Sir up the enviromental groups to ban woodburning and then sneak in the backdoor with gas and oil that has destroyed land and water. They can't sell this gas and oil to us if we are burning wood. I wonder if these idiots have ever stood on a busy street and inhaled emissions from autos?  

That might work UNTIL they get to redneck and hillbilly country, then... the pitchforks and shotguns will come out.

That's nuts, and it doesn't even go into the increase in seismic activity in those areas. Are the fracking in Yellowstone yet? That will be fun.

There is a big debate going on over fracking in southern Illinios. People don't want it done because of the environmental problems it causes. And speaking of the seismic activity it causes, look where Southern Illinois sits compared to the New Madrid fault (that's the tip of Southern Illinois at the top of the pic)...

This is my neighborhood! ...all those red dots that ran together are recordable earthquakes.

BUT... beautiful scenic Reelfoot Lake in TN was forned when the Mississippi River ran backwards sometime during the earthquakes of 1811-1812. I wonder what a few huge earthquakes like that would do now? LOL

Sheesh! Go stand a street corner in Peru/China/anywhere 3rd word! Then figure out what the emissions are from a hot fire in a typical wood stove. The emissions problem starts with slow/cold burns (like when you don't want to get up in the middle of the night to add wood). Now if you increase thermal mass, then you hold heat longer and it doesn't go up the chimney... That's why people are starting with rocket mass heaters (key word mass), masonry ovens (expensive rocket mass heaters)... and these (we hope) don't fit in the new categories of "wood stove" that are being phased out. The problem is that no two rocket mass heaters or masonry ovens are the same (depends on how they are built and what you are burning), and therefore the cost of making them "licensed" may make them, non-viable options (though most people could build one that works semi-efficiently and better than your wood stove with a little istructaion).

Spring peepers? Chicks? Those little birds that go nuts in the morning during the summer?

I don't think I want another quake like the one that made Reelfoot Lake. Just picture all the development since the early 1800s. Wouldn't want to be a bystander on the Mississippi either. Helicopter sounds good.
