The Front Porch Swing

I'm headed off to Guatemala tomorrow on a mission trip.  We'll be doing feeding programs, eye glass clinic, teaching hygiene, and working with the children, and I will be doing soil testing, assessing their gardening routines, teaching intensive gardening and composting.  Any of you who are so inclined, please pray for:  safety, health, team unity.  Specifically, my needs:  I don't do heat well.  Am just getting over pneumonia.  Taking a soil test kit.  Hoping it passes through customs without being confiscated.  And Hubby who is so not a farmer will be taking care of my flock of 43 birds and my garden, fruit trees, etc. Between that and work, he'll have a very full schedule.  He's my rock.

Prayers and thank you for helping those in need.

You can also get Vitamin D from the sun. Every now and then when I am out in the yard I hold out my arms and look up to soak in some Vit.D I know they say bad bad bad but everything in moderation and our bodies were designed to produce vit D from sun rays. Non believer? Google it. And then go take your Vitamin D.... Any way you can!
I believe this truly is the best, although it is defiantly in moderation.

Lazy Gardener, you don't sound lazy at all.

Wishing you safe passage, very productive efforts, and safe return. Vaya con Dios.

My nose got too much sun = skin cancer - now I prefer vit.D from my calcium supplements, fortified skim milk, etc. Over a lifetime, a little bit of sun adds up.

The next six to nine months are going to be very long. I work from home but I may have to start driving a hour to the office every day just to get away from the house. We have broken ground on our new hous and today I watched the guys who are supposed to be framing our foundation. Scratching their heads, measuring and looking at the blueprints. This went I all day long. They never came to a conclusion. If I were at work I wouldn't know any better.

. I may be doing a lot of venting!

Oh my, that doesn't sound good at all! Did you drop some of the architect's bump outs or are they all still there? The original plans you had showed a LOT of "better get it right the first time" corners.

That's funny, I had 3 years of Spanish and only know a few phrases another " echar la casa por la ventana." which is throw the house out the window. I wasn't the best student.

They are all still there, well most anyway. I think what was throwing the are the compound angles. Will be interesting if frustrating to watch. I certainly can't help! I'd rather they measure and scratch their heads until they get it perfect than to just slap it together! You can bet I'll be going over it with the builder in detail when they get it framed.
