The Front Porch Swing

I haven't really been sure what steps to take on washing them. So far I have been waiting until real close to the time I deliver them then wiping them all with a wet paper towel and the ones that need it I run under some hot tap water and rub them clean with a finger. The sanitizing rinse might be a good idea. I sure don't want anybody getting sick but then I worry about damaging the eggs too. I don't suppose we should worry too much considering the hands that commercial eggs go through huh? LOL

Start with your state regulations and go from there. My goal is to wash them as little as possible. And let the hot water expansion do most of the work so I'm not "pushing" stuff into the egg's pores.

I think it's the FDA or USDA that has a list of approved detergents and sanitizers for egg washing.

The main thing I was told is to NEVER submerge the egg in water. Not for one second. The egg wash at the feed store says to soak the eggs in their solution. Tres confusing!

I am wondering if the eggs washing solution would be caustic to the inside of an aquarium/water fall pump, then I could wash the eggs without having to submerge. Similar idea to the parts washing pump at a auto mechanics shop but a lot less expensive.

I have pipping this morning. I am so excited! Noticed on at about 7:45 this morning but now there is 4 pipping and one of them is really going to town and is really working hard to get out soon.

I don't use any solution at all to wash the eggs, just to disinfect them.

Building an egg washing machine would be a cool DIY project!

I asked DH about them, he didn't even notice them when he looked at the house. He didn't notice a lot of stuff that I asked about in the pictures!
Like - what is the chicken on the wall? "what chicken?" the one under the towel, next to the sink. Click on the picture to see it larger.
Kind of a neat-o sink, hey?

I LOVE this sink!!!!! From the two photos, it looks absolutely charming, and not in that scary Real Estate-speak way.
