The Front Porch Swing

It's MOVING day! Yep, I know there are still some alterations to be made on the coop, and we're getting to them. The vent will go in today. The holes in the soffit will be drilled and covered today too. But those are things we can do with the chickens out there, and that's what we're going to do. The second window will have to wait a week or so.because that will involve changing the framing to support it. I'm so excited! We're on our way out this morning to pick up the extra litter we seemed to have forgotten, and as soon as that's down out the little boogers go!

That's how I felt 9 years ago today when my grandson Austin called to tell me Tam was in labor! We were planning to head back to South Dakota to be there when Evan was born - he was due April 17th.

Ugh. April Fool's Day. I was just about to go line my nesting boxes with tin foil before it hit me. I so totally hate practical jokes. How does anybody have time or energy for that?

I thought it was serious too because I'm just really into experiments like that....but then I remembered what day it was!

I hate practical jokes too...just not my brand of humor and most are really mean spirited or even physically hurtful.

I don't think the foil idea is the least bit funny..........

Me either. I'm DESPERATE for broodies right now. I so wanted to believe anything ... ugh.

Jokes like this are designed to victimize people who are already in some way stressed so can't "filter" BS so well ... that's why they seem so cruel to me.

The ones that damage property, or waste resources, or just rob people of their time ... also ugh.

Me too! My heart leaped when I read the title...and then fell when I got the gist of the joke. What would really be funny is if folks tried it and it started working for some strange reason....now THAT would be funny!

I think you are right...pranks victimize people who are distracted by life and are often too stressed to pick up on the nuances of the joke.
