Snakes totally freak me out. Even cartoon snakes. We get little snakes here ... I can't bring myself to know anything about them. I can tell when the flock finds one due to the kind of commotion they all make when they do. I go hide in the house until it's quiet.

I'm actually not a big baby about most things. Honest. But it is starting to sound that way ... :lol:

Also in my case all my livestock are within reach and I actually can hear the predators.... the chickens are less than fifty feet away from my bedroom the horse .... LOL can take care of herself.... I have seen her take a swipe at a dog...if she ever connected they would be unrecogniseable.... And the goats hang with the horse....

I don't have a fence around my place, just have the dog on a wireless containment system that works remarkably well. My first one lasted for 10 years and paid for itself over and over when I lived right next to the road and it kept my dogs safe at all times. I just bought a replacement for it a few weeks ago. We live about 3/10 of a mile back from the hard road now but it's just as important to have him contained....a roaming dog is a dead dog in these parts. No one tolerates stray dogs at all, so even though he is contained I have a tag on his radio collar that reads "Hi! I"m Jake. Don't shoot! Please call....xxx-xxxx) just in case the battery should die and I not know it for a long time. Even when the battery dies, he's been on this system since he was a pup and doesn't break training by going out of the system unless the battery has been dead for over a month or so. Then I'll notice him roaming wider than his boundary and will replace batteries.

Like me and snorkeling ... lots of "bait" going through that tube. But it was still one of the coolest things I've ever done.

I'm so happy to see you! I just put my eggs in the "incubator"...will upload pics of it in a moment. Pray for me that this works? I don't want to kill chicks needlessly in my experimenting.
