The Front Porch Swing

Blooie: I continue to uphold Kendra in my prayers.

I ask for continued prayer for my Hubby. Surgery on his back scheduled for tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

He will be added to my daily prayers.

Happy Birthday Deb!
Blooie, praying for Kendra and for you to have a blessed and relaxing trip.

So I have really wanted ducks, but I wanted Saxonys. Could not find anyone in TX that breeds them so it looked like my only option was to buy hatching eggs ($3 each egg) or get on a list for day old babies ($5 each plus shipping) or Adults ($25 plus super expensive shipping). I really did not want to hatch and raise ducks. Then out of the blue I see a post on CL for 11 Saxony ducks (4 drakes and 7 hens) that were 2 years old and for only $8 each. However, they wanted to sell the whole flock at once and I could not take that many, but a Facebook friend of mine had her sister meet me and I gave her 4 (2 breeding pairs). So it all worked out. Their feather are a bit rough from over breeding and from a rooster from what I was told but they seem to be happy with their new place.

The gentleman I bought them from was 80 years old but moving around his place like a jack rabbit! Crawling in coops to flush them out and then helping me load them up. I hope I am like that. I really liked him.

Getting a wonderful, rumbly summer storm right now, with the rain falling straight down, which I love because I don't have to close the windows when it does that. Too warm out to close the windows, though not as hot as it could be. The garden is loving these rain showers and is growing apace.

I hope that everyone who needs this rain is getting it and everyone who doesn't, isn't.

It's that time of June when the flowers are at their loveliest and fullest, before it gets too hot and when they have received the proper amount of rain.....the smells are simply delicious and the colors are stunning! The lawn is also at its loveliest....freshly green and well watered, it looks like a velour carpet.

We've been working hard on this place for the last 3 wks to get it ready for our family reunion and every blade of grass is cut, every weed trimmed, everything that needed paint has been painted fresh and cheery colors, all windows are shining, all mulch is fresh and thick, even the gravel in the driveway has been refreshed with a new, thick supply. The garden is finished and neatly awaiting the fruit of our labors. Everything else has been bleached, cleaned, or otherwise shined to a new penny gloss. I tell ya, it's been a marathon of work and we are coming into the home stretch!!!

This is truly the best this place has ever looked and Mom is well pleased....I can't ask for more. God has given us the right weather for working each and every day and has also supplied us with the strength and resources to complete everything on time...He is so very good to us!!!

rrrmamma, I had an idea you could try. How about a weinie roast with homemade ice cream. You could invite families with young people to come out. They could play 'Balloon Volleyball'. Kids and adults love that (especially when it is hot out).

Yes, he is very good. Wow a family reunion? That sounds like so much fun!

Thank you, they sure do use up water. Still trying to figure that one out. I am on rainwater, so need to conserve. Right now I catch the run off from the A/C it provides about half of what they need each day. They are lazy also, the chickens are running around straching up food and they are laying next to the water just dipping their head in when they want to drink not even bothering to get up. Today was their first day since I got them (Saturday) to be let out of the pen.

I would love (or as Bee says, 'lerve') to have everyone over. I have 7 acres ya'll could camp on. There is just one thing.......I DON'T have a front porch.

If you can overlook that.....
