there is a smily face at the top of the reply box when you are typing, click on it and choose the emotion you want. Hope that helps

I don't see a smiley. Just a B, a link, a pic, and an @.

Are you on a phone or tablet? if you go to the bottom of the page there is a clickable bar that says mobile /desktop. you can go to desktop and post from there. It is a pain on a phone. Also if you go to the forum section I think it about tutorials there is a list of ways of making the smileys. let me see if I can find the link. I'll be back

newly expierenced broody watcher here. Candle the eggs and take out the stinkers and quitters leave her be. make sure she has food and water. how old are the chicks? I know when I lifted up broody and there was a newly hatched baby it was pretty wobbly. I have read that it takes 3 days to absorb the yolk sack and they don't need food or wwater in that time. I waited two days and picked momma off the nest and showed the chicks water. Momma didn't like it much.
at three feet off the ground I watched mom jump of the coop porch (which is about 3 ft off the ground with 1 to three day olds in tow. The just followed right behind her. Now getting them back in the coop was another story.

Thanks! I think they are just hatching today. The one was dry and sitting on the eggs. The other one was wet. I've incubated and hatched chicks out, but this one is the first broody that chose the barn to hatch in. I can't let them loose in the barn or the cats will get them and that part of the barn is FULL of everything to where you can hardly walk! I will have to move them. Just wondered how long I should wait to move her. The last broody that hatched chicks she chose the hoop greenhouse. That is where I'm going to move her. It was a great place, but we didn't have one end secure enough and a fox or something got her and most of the chicks.

It has since been very secured!!

Good evening porch swingers. Hope everyone well.
Peeps are now 2 weeks old and have figured out that they can squeeze through the fence in the run. Mama hen has a clucking fit but peeps just keep on cruisin'. UGGGHH gonna have to put some netting up to keep them in.

LOL... it wont be long before they will be "containable" I have sen people buy that plastic small mesh netting and just roll the roll out to line the run area and fasten it with clothes pins. Then when its not needed just unclip and roll it back up.... No need to do perminant unless you plan on littluns over and over again.
