The Front Porch Swing

We went to church today for the first time in a couple of years.... It really did my heart and soul good, and was an amazing service! It was rough going, getting everyone ready this morning and we just about didnt go, but I am so glad that we did!

I know what you mean...I really miss church. I wish I could find one locally that was doctrinally sound but it's hard to find that here. A good church and preacher is a pearl of great price.

Good! I was thinking that was quite a massacre considering how many chickens you have! Says a lot for being able to scatter out of the run...like fish in a barrel in a run. I'm glad the hawk didn't get its prey. That pup of yours needs to grow up and in a hurry!

The really big massacre happened in August.... the neighbors huskies killed 15 chickens in a week..... Thats one reason that we built the run, more as a place they could get into to get away from the dogs.... Most of the flock flies out anyway, but can get back in when/if they need to! I am seriously considering getting a Maremma.....

My grandfather was a preacher, and I always tend to stack other preachers up to him, and most don't measure up..... We went to this church a few years ago as did my dad.... they had a falling out, and we all just quit going. I've been trying to get the motivation to go back for awhile, and lately God has just really been laying it on my heart that I needed to get my kids in church! They have been asking alot of questions that I wasn't sure how to answer so at supper last night, I announced that we were getting up and going this morning!

I've heard good things about that breed. They are rare as hen's teeth in these parts. Mostly just GPs here. Some crazy person here locally mixed a pitbull and a GP and was selling pups from that mix for $50. That's all anyone needs...a 120 lb fluffy pit bull.

I've heard lots of good too... Haven't started looking around for one yet, and see lots of GP's here too..... Pits are great dogs for the right owners... unfortunately the right owners are few and far between! LOL.... and I can only imagine that mix!

I'm glad you didn't turn away from that nudging and found your great church again. I found my kids really needed church as much as I did for fellowship with other Christian kids....it's a hard life at school for Christian children. They get a hard time from kids and teachers alike.

It was a great morning, and the older 2 kids asked to go back next week! Hubby isn't as thrilled, but he was raised "that you don't have to go to church to worship God!" He doesn't like to be "forced" into it, but seems to enjoy it when he goes.... but then says don't expect him to go all the time....

Thanks guys for all the recipe tips! I knew you all would have answers.

I think I do have grape jelly for the same reason I have ketchup ... it would please me a lot to turn it into something else.

I think I'll do a condiment sauce out of all the yucky things they send along with take out ... Dad brings takeout home from his dates ... I bet with enough sugar it will end up tasting just like store bought.
