The Front Porch Swing

Probably not..it's sort of natural for them to pick up feathers and eat them now and again.  You could give them a bird seed suet cake and see if that will fill an urge.

I gave them two suet cakes the other day and they cleaned them right up with their ff...slurp! That was a dollar something or another apiece! LOL I believe I am going to try top dressing their ff with a little codliver oil for a few days.

I'm not too afeared of snakes but I don't like hornets or wasps.

Don't know the answer to that but I DO know what I'd do.....and it involves a change of undies.

LOL We have some big meaty grandpappys around here. A few years ago one ate a squirrel and fell out of the tree it was in. I guess he wasn't too mobile after that meal. lol As long as they don't have fangs I don't get too excited about them. Now if I reach in a nest and grab a snake it will be major shivers! LOL

Ah, this thread relaxes me. I got home from work a couple hours ago with the worst headache ever. All had been going well until my boss called and told me that I needed to print 15 copies of a poster, not 2. He didn't tell me that at all, he just said to print the file. Gah!

I'm just hoping to get more into the mesh of things. The first day is always the hardest, right? Because I had several awfully ungrateful thoughts today, just wishing he would realize I'm no good at this and fire me.

As soon as I got home, I popped a couple Tylenol and went straight out to the flock to feed them and watch the chicks. It helped immensely. Afterwards, I made some jello and just now I enjoyed it while watching some silly cartoons. I just need to let this all roll off me.

I have so many issues to work through tomorrow. The boss will be in tomorrow an hopefully he'll show me how to troubleshoot that darn printer. It had nearly finished printing a poster when it said there was an error. According to the manual, the only way to "fix" that problem is to nix all that you'd just printed, restart the printer, and do it all over again. How awful, especially when a business must save paper so that it can be economical.

Part of me wishes I could stick to my freelancing and just be around my chickens. Heck, I'd go back to the other print shop if they wanted me! At least there, they knew that I wasn't versed in printers/screen printing and would just let me be a graphic designer and not their Jack of All Trades.

The only consolation is that I will be able to pay off my student loans this year if I play my cards right. That makes this more worthwhile. If nothing else, I want my FICO score to be brilliant so I can get a loan for a property.

Okay, rant over. My head is sore.

Well, it's morning here on Oleo Acres......and now for your local news:
There was a major jailbreak in the early morning hours. Allegedly the jailer forgot to lock up the cell where 24 inmates were being held prior to their sentencing to hard labor out in the prison yard. Mr. and Mrs. Blooie were asleep when the jailbreak occurred. "We were awakened by strange scratching noises about 2:30 am. My husband got up to check and stepped in something warm and slimy." Mrs. Blooie reported. "He flipped on the light in the hall and saw the inmates scurrying for cover." Bravely, armed with nothing more than bare feet and hands, the Blooies managed to round up most of the escapees. One nefarious character, a troublemaker known only as "Easter Egger", evaded the authorities and escaped immediate capture by hiding behind a large plastic bucket full of toys. The Blooies' English Setter, Molly, once again proved her worth as she slammed into a point and managed to distract the inmate long enough for Mr. Blooie to sneak up from behind and wrestle Easter Egger into submission. All inmates have been returned to their cell, accounted for after a headcount. "There's some minor damage," Mrs. Blooie said. "Mostly squishy piles and some snags in the hallway carpet from their scratching activities, but nothing we can't clean up. We will rebuild the jail so that this never happens again."

And for your local weather:
Wyoming is living up to it's billing as the "4 Season State" - those seasons being Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Getting Ready for Winter. A cold front bringing winds that could gust to 45 MPH (just barely breezy by Wyoming standards) will sweep through the Big Horn Basin beginning this afternoon, bringing with it 1 to 3 inches of new snow. But take heart, Wyoming. The National Weather Service has declared August 15th as Summer Day 2014, so get out there when it arrives and celebrate.

In sports:
In conjunction with the winds expected today, folks in the region will take part in the "Try to Stand Upright in this Crap" games. Last week's competition was stiff, but there were no winners so all the participants from the last event will try once again for the title, "LeadButt". We are anticipating a large turnout.

Oleo Acre News - Fair, Balanced, To the Point
I love when those setters lock into a full point, So perdy! My English setter is so cool when he does it - he goes into slow motion and once the front leg is tucked up, the tail s-l-o-w-e-l-y uncurls until it is straight out. My Irish setter on the other hand will hunt full speed until he skids to a halt and locks into a point. I cannot say which is better, the Irish kinda has this cool vibe with the longer feathering and wavy fur. The English is much more constrained and elegant even though he is fuzzier and has spiked hair on his head.

Yes, Wyoming is living up to its reputation. It sounds like the wind is going to blow all night here. We are expecting some snow, but not much. I doubt it will even hit the ground until it gets to Nebraska.

I missed the Summer Day announcement - I will have to make note of that so I don't miss it this year.
