The Front Porch Swing

Sometimes when you see a coop that is not predator proof it may be because they have dogs instead. That's why I don't have runs or predator proofing on my coop...I have a Jake. When I do this spring's expansion and tweaking of the coop, I'll be lining the walls of the cattle panels with deer netting only. It's cheaper and it's only there to contain chickens, not keep out preds.
Yep, you're right, and I got to thinking after I posted that stupid comment that some of them may be not quite done, like mine was, just be waiting for some hardware cloth, some may have electric poultry netting or fences, or any other kind of protection that's not visible. That was kinda insensitive of me, and I recognize that. <sigh> Sorry. Um, do I need to go back in the corner? I feel like I just got out!

Nope! Who put you in the corner?

"Nobody puts Blooie in the corner!"

One rule of thumb I use is if you are making a comment that could be inflamatory... Or you are defending another.... READ it through first out loud.... What does it sound like. Its very important if you are typing angry. Saved me from foot in mouth disease on Several occasions.

And if you spot a troll Back off and dont respond.... They will hang themselves with their own words eventually.

Yes! If I had a Jake, I wouldn't even need a fenced run.

I'm sure when a Gust chased the raccoon it was just in hopes of licking its bum. He loves to lick kitty bums, and that raccoon looked like one of my cats.

Thanks for all the helpful info front porchers. This will make me a better citizen on these pages. But I wonder why people decided to call troublemakers trolls? Because in Scandinavian faery stories trolls just hung out under bridges and offered to eat trespassers. Which is a sort of useful not nefarious function?

Quote: My dads first computer stored info on an Audio Cassette drive. I forget what kind it had a green screen and an intergal keyboard.

My first computer was an 8088 built myself.... No hard drive but .... drummm rolll It had TWO 5.25 inch floppy drives..... Woo hoo I could run the Software on one AND store the file on the other..... Strictly DOS.

My second computer was a retired CAD demo computer.... No hard drive I bought a 20 meg hard drive from a coworker.... Woo Hoo now I could run DOS from the hard drive. I got really good at creating Autoexec files for specific programs that run on that one. At the time Autocad came on three or four 5.25 floppy disks.

Once Windows rolled out I had to learn how to swap autoexecs because AutoCAD didnt like shareing kernels. Meant the computer had to be rebooted in the process.

Once Windows and DOS were integrated I stopped writing any kind of autoexecs.... Or eve messing with DOS any more.

LOVED NT..... Hated Windows 3.0 learned to live with it.

Loved XP Skipped over Vista

Love 7 But I know I am going to have to give it up eventually. Unless I go over to Linux. I cant afford Apple.

Its the hardware end of computers I want to upgrade.

Bigger hard drive.... In the terabytes
More Video Memory. 4 gig isnt enough
More Cache memory. 4 gig isnt enoug
Better cooling Hopefully water cooled

When I am working I use SolidWorks, Corel Draw, Photoshop (if I have to), Microsoft office, AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop.
I use Graphics within my Solid design models for texture and presentations. That ramps up a model from 1 gig to up to 4 gig. Those sized files have to be handled through FTP.... Or an equivalent I havent done it in several years now.

But out of all that I wish SOMEONE would come up with a small window that would tell me what software is running in the back ground and what its for. Avast and Advanced System care Kind of do that.... But I feel they are running in the back ground all the time sucking up my CPU....

So I am going to my computer peeps talk to them a bit in the next few weeks and decide on the best options.

It's also called chumming, which is a fishing metaphor. So my guess is it refers to troll fishing, not fantasy trolls. I could goggle that to verify it, but I don't wanna. :p

Yep! Throwing out a line and hoping to get a bite....depends on how cleverly you hide the hook if you will get a bite. And some internet trolls get really, really good at hiding the hook...first they act innocent and like they are interested in the topic. They ask all sorts of questions but if you look closely those questions are very elementary...they are a lead-in to their real agenda. If you are adept at spotting trolls you can tune into their agenda pretty quickly but if you are very trusting and "just want to help" the "newbie", you can really get sucked into taking the bait.

Innocent, seemingly uninformed questions....watch for those. Watch for the shiny, pointy thing underneath...
