The Front Porch Swing

Gust loves everything that comes out of that pot. Especially the carrots. It's been tough for him having to smell it 24/7 while it simmers.

That space between the stove and the cabinets is one of his favorite spots.

I had a cat yowling at the window all the time I was simmering chicken stock...finally had to get the squirt bottle out.

That Gust is one very lucky dog!

I was looking at that arrangement and it made me Smile. I miss having a Dog Minion around... you now spot clean ups... taste tester.... doting eyes...

My next kitchen will have base cabinets on casters so I can move them out for cleaning especially around the stove.... But it would be very easy to build one with one of those BIG POT cooker inside it. Line the cabinet with insulation Then put a single burner in there ... maybe even an induction burner. Then you could put the big pot in there for making stock. Especially if you have a lid for it. Of course youd have to make drain holes in the cabinet incase it over flowed... and um have the floor drain close by .... May be not such a good idea after all.

But it would put the top of that pot just a little under counter hieght for those skimming jobs.... maybe put a hinged top on it to access it.

I want to do a canning pantry arrangement and this is something that I definately want to think about some more.

It's nice having the power for a pot that big ... Power enough to boil a lot if water is always so egg if to consider for canning. Around here, a "summer kitchen" could be a huge blessing ... that pot keeps the house warm. Warmer.

This country could use a fresh wind. Nothing like a mother to set this mess straight.

About them dairy cows..... MOO.

And that's my son's pig. He has an obsession with this thing... and the pig has to sit on top. Adds to the barn yard feel I suppose.

I read most of the posts, sure can't remember what all I wanted to say. Ha!

I agree....I'm hoping to keep my canning out on under the carport this summer to keep that heat out of the house. Also want to use the steam canner to cut down on water use and heavy pots.

this is pretty much the type of kitchen I want to do in my house... scaled down of course. My ceilings in my kitchen are less than eight feet tall.

With the exception that there will be no upper cabinets. Shelves for stuff yep but not the day to day use stuff. I cant climb step stools at all so either the cabinets have to pull down from the wall or everything goes under. Same goes for my pantry in the kitchen I am good to about five or maybe six feet up reach but thats about it.
