The Front Porch Swing

I'd just matter of factly and cheerfully say...with a megawatt smile... " I can't! I'm still in love with and will be for some time now, so not really looking for anyone new. Now, since I charge extra for intrusive questions, will there be anymore of those? Just wanting to know if I can afford those shoes I saw at the store the other day....".
Oh wow! That's genius. I wonder if she could practice up and sell that line. Or if she could just put it right on the invoice ... Good answers so far, Porchers!

Someone came to my house today with a specific craving for chowder with corn in it, and complaining because their household doesn't like "soup." Ummm ... wanna join us for lunch? My freezer now has a turkey chowder shelf under the turkey broth shelf ... and I had added lots of corn. :thumbsup

I knew that either Bee or Blooie would come up with the perfect answer to the "when you going to start dating again question". My response would be, with as flat an affect as i could muster: "Why do you ask?" Then, i'd stare him down, and wait while he floundered around for a socially acceptable answer, which, under the circumstances, does not exist.

I finally got a chance to take a couple pictures of the new Muscovy ducklings. Only two hatched but the hen seems awfully pleased with herself. As she should be, of course, considering how long she sat on those eggs!

I wish I could take pictures of the other five ducklings we hatched, but they keep avoiding me, haha! I'd love help identifying them, but we'll just have to wait and see how they feather out. Two have little top hats and I have no idea what breeds they are or if they are the offspring of my own ducks. It's significantly harder to identify ducklings breeds than it is to discern the parentage of the chicks. A puffy-cheeked, slated-legged naked neck chick is very obviously an EE/NN mix. A top-hatted grey duckling could be anything!

Oh well. The mystery makes everything a little more interesting, haha!

I can't possibly keep up tonight...so many posts!

Know that I always keep you all and your families in my thoughts and prayers, through good times and bad....I promise I'll read up tomorrow and catch up on the latest. In the meantime Little Diane and Dustin's vacation just keeps getting better and better!

He
The first time Little Diane, Jamie and Austin came out to Wyoming to visit us she was was only 3 years old. We took the kids to Yellowstone and Little Diane fell in love with one spot - LeHardy Rapids. We had the worst time keeping her away from the rushing water, and an even harder time getting her back in the car. And every visit from then on, and then when she came out to live with us, that was "her place." So after she went to bed last night, Dustin, Ken and I sat up talking. Dustin had come to us and asked us where her favorite place in Yellowstone is. He said he'd planned to propose to her when they got back to South Dakota but when he saw how happy she was to be "home" he knew it had to be here. But he didn't have a ring yet. I did. I had Ken's mother's wedding ring, and I was instructed to see to it that my oldest granddaughter was given that ring when she married - not necessarily as a wedding ring but as a symbol of a lasting marriage. So Dustin proposed to our granddaughter with her great- grandmother's ring. Oh, she said "yes!"

I can't stop grinning!

Soo Happy for all of you!!! Congratulations!!! Beautiful Granddaughter!!
Want to give you all an update on my DIL Stephanies benefit this past weekend. GOD IS SO GOOD!!

The outpouring of support and love was sooo overwhelming and humbling!! They raised an enormous amount for her!! So much more than we ever dreamed!!! This if from a very small community in a sleepy little hollow of sw Ohio. No big money here, at all!! Just Big Hearts! They had a live auction, and people were beyond generous. Some would pay hundreds of dollars for an item and then donate it back to be auctioned off again. My granddaughters 5th grade class donated a gift basket worth over $200 and it brought more than that. One of her classmates painted a picture of a fluffy dandelion, with the fluff being blown. You would not think it to be made by a 5th grader, it was sooo good! He called it "My Wish". His wish is "that Stephanie would have a successfull lung transplant"! It was bought by a very generous gentleman, then donated back and then I bought it!

It is beautiful!! That little boy gave up a new bike he was saving for, to donate. There was such an interest in his art, that he is going to paint some more pics and people are going to pay him for them. He already has the bike he was saving for. Another "God thing" story. A dear friend of ours prayed and told the Lord she wanted to do something special for Stephanie. She kept going in the room where she had an heirloom quilt hanging on the wall. She felt this is what the Lord would have her do. She wanted it to go for $1000, and she told the Lord she would make up the difference of what the quilt would bring. Well, that quilt brought sold for $850! She was so happy, even though it was very hard for her to part with the quilt. It was made by her great aunts, and after they passed, it went to her mother, and it hung in their home for many years, and then passed to my friend. The people who bought the quilt go to church with us. So on Sunday morning, they brought the quilt and gave it back to her!! Her testimony was this, when we give and obey the Lord, He always gives back so much more!! Several people at church that couldn't make it to the benefit, and there were a hole lot of them that came, handed me envelopes, checks, cash to give to her. I'm still overwhelmed, and so, so thankful to my faithful God!! I try to be thankful everyday for all of His blessing, because I have been blessed beyond measure!!! But when I see the hand of God work in such a mighty way, I'm always so surprised!!?? Why is that!!?? I see His mighty hand in my world everyday. Praise His Holy name! Halleluia! I don't want you all to think I'm just praising my God because of just this blessing! My God is good all the time!! We are in for some highs and some lows in this journey we will walk with our Stephanie, but we will trust and believe, praise and worship, no matter what the outcome! His ways aren't our ways, and His thoughts aren't our thoughts! Sorry for the long post, but I feel like shouting from the rooftops!!!
