The Front Porch Swing

Have you looked into essential oils or acupuncture? I've been doing some erase arch into essential oils for my daughters headaches and ADHD and my heartburn. Essential oils can't hurt! Try this website

It's really interesting stuff. My friend who is really into these oils told me that the oils you can get in the store are not pure oils...they still have additives. This doterra website has the pure oils. They are expensive, but last forever because they are so concentrated.
I'll check into that....anything beats taking another pill! Thanks!

Hoping to have visitors this morning. Luvsblues7 and her husband are in Cody. She called me this morning - what a pleasant lady she is! We missed each other yesterday because of the Billings fiasco, but they are headed toward Billings themselves this morning and will be 6 miles from us when they hit the junction. She said to tell you all she misses you - and she asked me to say that she thinks Bee is precious. She used to visit the Porch when she was at work, didn't post much but did enjoy reading. But someone at work really started abusing the internet so everyone got chewed out. No more perusing the Porch at work.

No surgery for Kendra means that I will be able to relax and really enjoy this vacation! I'm almost all packed - the only thing left is the usual last minute items for my carry on. I'm afraid between my bags and Tammy's we may sink the boat with the weight. Oh well, rather need something and have it than wish I'd brought it!

My four year old is extremely high energy (like I was ad my husband) his preschool has asked about meds. I told them absolutely not and that he's not ADHD, he just has lots of energy. He writes his full name (7 letters) and can compleat tasks, just gets board. Plus he doesn't nap, he should, but calming down enough to nap isn't going to happen. I was a bad sleeper and so is he.
Anyways, I finally went to a herbalist who suggested ashwaganda and said it's been used for ADHD and can help with high energy kids that have trouble calming when they get worked up. I've absalutly noticed a difference and he has an easier time calming himself. The preschool also has noticed. I have been taking some to and have noticed when he has a hard day, I've been able to be calmer. I wasn't sure about it, but glad we gave it a shot!

Just a quick note to say that my Golden Comets that spent the day in the fermented feed spa are ok and doing well. The only way I can tell is that they are not quite as fluffy as the others. I may give them a soapy bath later.

It's a little cool and windy today but we can still sit out on the porch.
I made 2 cherry and 2 rhubarb pies, but 2 of them have to go to the church social tonight. You can help me decide which ones.

What a bummer!!! I said I might not be getting the 20 CX's from Baton Rouge because the lady that's bringing them to me lost her ride. But the order never arrived and Christina kept asking the hatching company where is it? Finally, today 125 arrived all dead and decomposing. 51 are barely alive and probably won't make it. So stinking sad. I feel so bad for Christina that I could cry. I can get chickens anytime but what a disaster for her. Praying for her.

Actually I drove to my house. Mom drove the return trip to the city. Back then she was still doing good driving. That Helicopter ride cost me 10,000 dollars the insurance company only paid for 6 of it. If I knew then what i know now I could have refused the ride.

That hurts worse than a concussion

Isn't insurance absolutely worthless?

I used to have BC/BS when I had my first kiddo. They had me pay all sorts of copays for prenatal care, hospital stay, after care etc. Then afterward wouldn't even pay for any sort of birth control (I get pregnant by thinking of getting pregnant. Did NOT need another one back to back). Maddening. Ofcourse, now I got medicaid (they just cover pregnancy related stuff). Didn't pay a PENNY for care. They even paid for prenatal vitamins (although I never took them up on that offer, I still had a big jar.. never stopped using them). Now how messed up is that? They even paid for my IUD I got put in yesterday... $1325!

I was paying $90 a WEEK for BC/BS for me and my boy.

I am soo glad for the good news... WRT migranes have any of you investigated Botox for the control of migraines? I used to date a man who had Cluster Migraines... Oh the agony.... he would shut off the lights and draw the curtains and get in the hall and walk little teeny steps from one end to the other. I felt so badly that I could do NOTHING for him but let him manage them his own way.

My mom used to have migraines. My older brother had some, but we found his trigger (caffeine). I get them rarely, but when I do they're bad. They make me throw up... can't handle sound, light.. anything. I just pull a pillow over my head and wait until I puke, then pass out.

Anyway, my mom had a ton of triggers. MSG, chocolate, sulfites in wine, french cheese, strong scents/perfumes. Don't remember the rest, but it was quite a list.

I will look to that for my step-son. He may have ADD.. we're not pushing for a diagnosis because it would just put a stigma on him. He handles himself pretty well, but in school he has a hard time not trying to be the center of attention all the time. Talking, talking, talking, can't sit still, can't stand not being noticed or for someone else to have the focus. *laugh* He's gotten a ton better, but that sounds like it may help him.

It took about a week to really notice and they have to take it everyday but it has really helped him be able to calm himself easier. I was totally skeptical but it has worked for us. I'm also looking into oils for hard days where he gets extra wound up! (And me to) I have a good friend who swears by them and just puts lavender in a humidifier. I feel the same way about the stigma. I don't want my son labled "bad" because he's high energy. It will be good later in life. When he's older he will be able to control the energy better, but now it's just a lot! The up side is we can hike for hours and he will just keep going :)

Forget the stigma. If he needs help, he needs help. Sounds like ADHD. The H is hyperactivity. It doesn't mean he is subnormal it just means he is ACTIVE. And yes, I am a great proponent for Medicaid. Glad you could get on it. I was paying $150 a month for medication and now I pay $32. It's part of the Medicare part D. But by having Medicaid I don't have to pay the extra $40 something premiums. And Dr and Hospital visits are free. I don't need them often, usually just to get my meds refilled but helps out.
