The Front Porch Swing

Felix, I've got the same thing. In a LOT of pictures I look if I am mentally not 100%. I have a slightly droopy eyelid, it's a genetic thing, Thomas has it too. But if I don't remember and don't put effort into smiling I have this 'duuuhhh' look going on haha All about angles.

Hate my voice too, always have, it's not particularly feminine.

I think at around 10 I wanted to be "normal", I got teased very early on about looking different. So yeah, that video.. I probably would've said "I want to be a cat". No such thing as a "wrong" cat. And fat cats are adorable too. And droopy eyed cats.

Last month I had to take some pictures of everyone to print for Thomas for speech therapy to teach him our names. First picture is evidence of the "derp" look as I call it

Angles people, angles!

I absolutely feel the same way about my voice on recording! Once I heard it and asked my husband if that's really how I sound and when he said yes I asked "why on earth did you marry me! I'm sorry you have to listen to that!" Haha. Poor man. Photos too, I am NOT photogenic and its the worst when I am forced to smile, I always look bad and fake. I'm glad so many other people feel the same way! I mean, I felt like a total freak!

I happen to think you are beautiful! And the smile, too, silly girl! I have a theory about why so many people hate photos of themselves. It's because when the see the camera they suddenly turn shy - they put their hands up in front of their faces, "Oooh, don't take my picture." Most often you end up with a picture of half a face wearing a grimace and a hand. Or they stiffen up and present a totally unnatural pose to the camera, "I hate having my picture taken" they say through tightly clenched teeth. "Hurry up." Or they think there is a rule somewhere that says when you are about to get photographed, smile as big as you can, but instead of smiling they give an uncomfortable smirk.

So I tell people I'm photographing, "Look, just relax and imagine all the things you're going to do to me later for taking your picture." If folks would just relax and quit protesting, smile and get it over with, the pictures almost always look pretty doggone good. Those are the pictures where later on they point to and say, "That's about the only picture of me I've ever really liked."

I see some VERY bad results here!

That was a nice video. I'd like to change my eyes, it would be nice to be able to see without glasses. I don't mind the way they look, but they get in the way sometimes. For instance, halloween costumes that require a mask are out of the question.

For me, looking bad in pictures isn't me being uncomfortable with myself. It's just that I can not for the life of me pose for a camera. I look super weird in every photo that I try to smile for. And trying not to smile looks weird too. I don't really have a weird smile, I'm perfectly happy with my reflection in the mirror. Sure, I'm losing a bit of hair, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that, Jason Statham looks handsome even though he's going bald. And Bruce Willis. And I could have a bit more muscles, but that would be easily fixed, it would just take a bit of an effort.

You must be my Finnish twin brother! DO NOT ask me to smile, I can't do it. Make me laugh and I will smile. Just send Blooie over, I think she makes me laugh more than any other person I (almost

) know.

Your post reminded me of this video which I thought was fantastic. http://aplus.com/a/jubilee-project-comfortbale-one-question When I was a kid I would have said I want wings. I'm doing better at being comfortable in my own skin, I think most of us think we look different in pictures than we imagine ourselves to be. I'm 5'3" 170 in real life, in my head i'm 5'9" and svelte. ;) Hope the link works.

I would change my eyes. To be able to see with depth perception vision like most of the people in the world would be a gift. Not that I'm complaining mind you. The mere fact that I have had binocular vision for the last 5 years is a HUGE improvement over how I saw the first 50+ years of my life. There are much worse things than seeing with only one eye at a time. But, "you" did ask what ONE thing I would change, right?

My vision is kinda weird, I don't have a very high prescription at all, doc said I barely need glasses and I would likely never use them. But boy do I need them. One of my eyes overcompensates for the other, so I used to tire real quickly. If I put my glasses on I need to "manually" focus my eye (focus with one, then focus with the other) to make my good eye give up some of the work

I've had many vision tests over the years and always got the same "you don't really need glasses". Didn't get them until about 5 years ago. As a kid they thought the droopy eye was a lazy eye. Maybe it is afterall.. it is my "bad" eye.

I went for my driver's test 5 years ago and realized I had no depth perception whatsoever.. how different things could've been had I gotten glasses sooner. I was the joke in PE since I couldn't catch a ball and have terrible aim, always picked last for teams

Well... duh!

It's sort of freaky, when I focus my eyes after putting my glasses on everything seems to shift into place. It feels as if I wake up and everything comes to live. I describe as 2D movies vs 3D movies. My world becomes 3D.

Just thought I'd drop by the Porch and say howdy to ya'll :frow

Been awhile since I last dropped by. Hope ya'll are doing well :)

I've been busy with work and trying to get ready for winter by doing the annual coop winterization projects. Got some new birds that are reaching POL, it'll be nice to start getting eggs again and not have to buy them !

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and God Bless !
