The Front Porch Swing

LB: I'm sharing your joy in having your own space. Good for you!

Misty, I think you have a wonderful idea to make those insets for those bathing suits. The low cut front is always a limiting factor in my purchase of a bathing suit. I swear I'd rather have a root canal than take the time to try on swim suits! I like the 2 piece with tank top and boy shorts. I have too much skin to want to show any of it off! I'd play around with that fabric and see what I could come up with on my own. You can most likely fold it in half to make your panel. Put the top on inside out, place the folded piece over the center, tack it in place with pins, (you might need some help here) then, you can take it off and either machine stitch or hand stitch. If you hand stitch, use a back stitch. I'd try it myself before paying someone to do it. But... that's just my nature. I cut my own hair b/c I'm too cheap to pay to have it done, and I can cut it in less time than it would take me to drive ANYWHERE to pay at least $25 to get it done, and I do a better job!

Glad to hear the good vibes @LBejaran
!  It is a pretty good feeling to have some independence.  Congrats on things working out for you.

It's very nice having my own space where I can work and relax but I'm also trying not to lock myself up in there for too long.

There is a fine line between introvert and homebody, so I have to make my presence known in the house, haha!

Thank you! It's been hard work but with a couple more weeks of labor and strategic furniture moving, I bet it'll be one of the nicest rooms i

@LBejaran Wow, those fabric panels really show that you are a creative person. It is so cool how different everyone is. That mix of loud fabrics would give me a headache in no time! lol
I painted my bedroom in Wyoming a nice medium shade of "Green Tea" just because I needed the tranquility of green to relax and sleep. Wyoming was always so brown to me. It is nice being back in "Green" bay area...

Genius!! I never would have thought of that!

I called a couple places. One place (closest) wouldn't be able to take it in for two weeks (seamstress is on vacation), which means it would be longer than that to get it done. The other place has hours that do not work for me and I have hear she is expensive. I'm going to try it myself. I washed the fabric, and it seemed to go OK. Wish me luck!

My birthday is coming up on the ninth...  and I am buying my own present... canning gear and supplies.

I want to learn how...  I was going to get both a water canner and a pressure canner...  but after reading a bit I found out a pressure canner can also be used as a water bath....  I am torn

An older post, Deb, but just had to tell ya I cracked open my new pressure canner and made 3 quarts of succotash and 2 quarts each of navy and pinto beans. It costs 1/4 of grocery store beans. Next I'm going to start with raw chicken pack. Thiis is a new endeavor as I've given away all my chickens for a while. Going to see DD Jenny in Vancouver,WA for a month or two. Excited!!!! :D

My wife and in-laws have some Mansfield Dairy glass bottles. Don't know when they switched to gable tops. And my in-laws got milk delivered not to their stoop but IN the refrigerator until about 10 years ago. Same guy had been doing it for decades and since he was still delivering to the hotel up the hill, he kept up the very personalized home delivery until he retired. My MIL would leave a list on the fridge and 99% of the time, he would have it in hand when the got out of the truck. He would see our car in the driveway when my kids were little and add 2 cartons of chocolate milk (gratis) to the delivery.

Ah, the services of yesteryear :D

Bruce, this happened in 1955 when we lived in Dallas. I remember Mama pouring off the top cream to save for making butter. Only happened once or twice, because, why bother. They now have oleo.

I loved the home canned chicken that I made. I plan on making a bunch more, maybe I will raise a batch of broiler chickens just to can.

@LindaB220 Sounds like a fun "vacation". Enjoy your visit! Hope you enjoy the Washington weather.

Thanks, hon, I'm really looking forward to it. I was thinking September but with all I have going on, it may be later October. :D
