Well nothing today but yesterday............
I had introduced 2 bantam roos to the flock the day before. I watched them all day and was relieved when all went well. That night I made sure everyone had a place to roost and was safe and sound inside.
The next morning at about 4:45 I woke up in a panic. I was afraid that if everyone in the coop woke up and saw the new babies they might forget they were there yesterday and harm them. The babies would be cooped up with the big girls with nowhere to hide!
So in my t-shirt and flip flops, in the dark, I traipse out to the coop. I open the door and only a few are awake and starting to come around. I look around and can't see the babies, where oh where could they be? I flip on the light which awakens ALL the birds that are running around me trying to find the way out. I hadn't,t opened the pop door yet. I opened the people door and they went running out, still no babies! There is nowhere to hide in my small 1 room coop.
Just as I am about to cry, I turned to leave and bumped a new bag of shavings I had leaned up against the wall. Out came the babies just a chirping and squeaking like crazy!
It scared the bejeebers out of me! Holy cow! I came in the house and made coffee, there was no getting back to sleep after that!
