The Fuzzy-Butt-thundering herd of Wisco had quite a big day! It started when their unchicken mom put them in their going-outside box and took them to a big house across the yard from the one unchickenmom lives in. (we rent it out, like a hotel) She had to clean it, because some people were coming the next day to stay there. While she worked, the herd scratched around outside in a big patch of ferns. Soon Omelet the BO got bored and challenged unchickenmoms athourity by leaving the safety of the fern forest, exposing her to hawks and eagles and things. She was herded back to the safety of the fern forest. And again. And again. And soon the other members were following her example. unchicken mom gave up and went back to cleaning. She had just got done scrubbing the kitchen floor when she heard a confused squawk from under the table. She turned to see Red the RIR going crazy and sliding all around on the wet floor. She had hopped right in to the house and had, apparently, gotten lost. Unchickenmom hurried to get her out before she could poop all over the nice clean floor. She never came in again, because then unchickenmom shut the door. When she was done, the herd was moved to the dog kennel. There, they rested. They were given alot of waermelon. Roo pushed and shoved to get the very best spot and, as usuall, he won. He ate and ate and ate. More than any of the other chickens put together! Then he sat walked a couple steps away, pooped, and sat down to take a quick nap. Now when he woke up he decided he had had enough of this cage. He ran around in circles squawking at the top of his lungs, and sure enough, mom came out and opened the door before she could go crazy from all the noise. The herd pured out into the open lawn and went right for their hideout under the porch. Mom went back inside and went to the computer. About a half an hour later she heard peeping from right outside the door. Then right inside. She turned to see three chickens inside the house! She, of course with her not great memory, had forgotten to shut the screen door. Now Little Roo, flanked by Big Girl and Domonique, was strutting about as if he owned the place. He drank out of the dogs water bowl, he hopped up onto the dogs giant pillow, he pooped on the tile. Mom just HAD to take pictures before she kicked them out:

Just as they were coming in

And, of course, Little Roo

This one's after I kicked them outside. Roo gave me quite the glare.

Now Mom has a problem. They have learned to climb up the porch stairs. That means poop. And that means she has to clean it up, even though Rex the Border Collie would be happy to help her.

So she chased the three trouble-makers back down the stairs. Then they moved on to the backyard. They saw the bat poop next to the chimney and saw it as an open opportunity for dustbathing. I already posted the pic above. Pretty soon they were put back in the kennel, because mom was tired of them being everywhere at once. Roo soon freaked out again, and the others followed his example. They were soon back in their coop.

Great writing and darling chicks too.
Your story reminds me of our 14 week old gals. They are just starting to be a little more graceful--well, not graceful but at least not as ungraceful. I call them my "herd of buffalo" Yeeha!

They literally run (sometimes practically knocking each other over) to get to me as I am their goodie lady. They are so fun!

Today, the Fuzzy-Butt Thundering herd of Wiso did not have such a big day as yesterday.
Mom was gone for the whole day swimming, and no one else was home. So the herd did not get to go outside. Finally, my brother got home, and he put the chicks in the cage outside:

Right after Roo stood on the edge of the water borl and flung water all over himself.

About 6 pm, I went to close the coop door. I turned the corner to see this: PS-Please excuse the bad lighting and fuzziness, it was dark and my camera is a piece of crap

I had to close the door of course, and they were in the way. SO I moved them to their old-countertop barrier. I'm hoping they make it their new roost from now on.

The thundering herd is hoping that they have a more adventorous day tomarrow. Mom Will be home all day...
Thanks for reading!

Yes! Please keep writing...I'm loving this....

Love all the photos too. You are very good at documenting their funny lives.... Our girls are now 13 weeks and I realized I barely have any photos of them!
