I LOVE BANTAMS!!!! BANTAMS ARE THE BEST!!!!

I don't have any right now, but was soooo tempted at the feed store yesterday. Two lovely little buff colored hens (don't know my breeds) with a few spots and feathered legs and with about 12 beautiful little chicks, were hunkered down in a cage and trying to keep the gold sexlink pullets next door from showing too much interest. Very protective. The best part was the reaction of my trying-always-to-be-cool-because-I'm-a-teenager 13 yr old son. He was ooohing and awwwing and calling strangers over to see how cute it was when the babies sat up on mom's back or when mom showed them what to eat. It was hard to drag him away!

Found out that the hens' owners had lost their house (crummy economy!

) and had to move AND give up their chickens. So sad. Lots of chicken folks around here though, so I'm sure they'll find a good home.

What do you guys think makes a byc friend?
I have been wondering about this recently. I don't know how I ended up with a badge, but either way I feel a bit past my use-by date. Nobody seems to think I really should have it anymore.
