Darlene saw peanut and walked over to her. Looking at the salamander Darlene said "I don't know why you keep that thing"
Darlene had never heard of a chicken keeping a pet before. She thought that it would be to difficult to make sure the pet wouldn't get eaten while also making sure SHE didn't get eaten.
