Bandit stretched out her wings, perched on a rock. Up here, she was almost the height of the standard sized chickens. Almost.

Coal appeared by Bandit's side. "Wow. I didn't realize how powerful you looked until now." He grinned.

Bandit looked at him smugly, wishing that she was just a bit taller. I need a bigger rock. She thought.
Out loud, she said, “Hey, cockerel. Got any news on that big ol’ Eater?”

Coal laughed. "I'm a rooster, you know. Last time I checked, the Eater took off one of Iris's spurs."

“Hmph.” Bandit huffed. “Iris, the sentinel? Hmm.” She stared distractedly in the direction of the Lookout tree, not actually seeing it, as it was hidden by the canopy.
“Say, how do you see Eaters from up there, anyway?” She wondered, giving Coal a sideways look.

“Hmph.” Bandit huffed. “Iris, the sentinel? Hmm.” She stared distractedly in the direction of the Lookout tree, not actually seeing it, as it was hidden by the canopy.
“Say, how do you see Eaters from up there, anyway?” She wondered, giving Coal a sideways look.

Coal shrugged. "Not sure, to be honest. The lower branches give you a view below the tree-tops, I think, and the higher branches let you see the Sky-Eaters. But I'm not sure. Never been there."
