The "girls" are growing up gorgeous...updated pics 7/12/12...Bought as Ameraucanas...

Ok, so I replied to these recent pics just this morning, but my very witty, insightful and 100% correct predictions did not post!

Brilliant! I probably forgot to hit "submit" - again! Durrrrr

So here's another much less witty and probably incorrect version. They're about 10 weeks now, yes?

The only one I'd bet money on being a cockerel is #5 (well, I'm cheap and cautious) because of the large, pink comb and patchy coloring.

I still have suspicions about #1 - are those patches of red starting on wings? the comb is pale even though it's rooish??

#6 & 8 have red combs, but pullet looking coloring. Cannot convict, but keep them on probation!

#9 has what looks like a roo comb, but it's pale. It has a nice even pullet pattern, but are those white patches on wings significant? I dub #9 Enigma!

Your chickens are turning out to be a beautiful variety. I'm sure glad you're able to keep track of them all! Thanks so much for taking and posting all those pics!

It's quite a job and I can't wait for the answers to this quiz. One more month, maybe? It will be interesting to see if the length of the feathers on the underside of the wings has any validity for sexing. Chicken science in action!

Take care!

The younger ones of the group are about 10 weeks and the older ones are 12-13 weeks. I tried to get some new pics and different angles today, unfortunately the weather did not want to cooperate. The only one I was able to get pics of was #1, so here they are. I am pretty convinced she is a pullet.
#1 - Mork

That comb would be bright pink if she was a boy, so I think you're right! Yay! She's pretty and with the pea comb you have a good chance of getting blue/green eggs.

Here's my EE, Monkey. She started out very plain, but her markings have turned out lovely. She's 4 1/2 months.

#2 - Ruby

#3 - Cher

#4 - Mindy

#5 - Camo

#6 - Groucho

#7 - Pearl

#8 - Opal

#9 - Harpo

#10 - Sonny

Sorry, out of town yesterday getting 2 more pullets!!! I saw this post late and started to respond and hit some mysterious black-hole button on the laptop and all my "marvelous insights" disappeared.

So I gave up and went to sleep! Wouldn't be such an issue, but I'm a sucky typist, it takes forever.

Saw your post on the EE sexing thread where people are picking Camo and Harpo as cockerels. Camo is a definite candidate, but I'm still torn about Harpo. If you see lots of dark red feathers coming in on Harpo's upper wings (I think I'm seeing some) then I'd say cockerel, but I just think the comb would have more color at this stage (even though it is a boy comb with the 3 rows).

I can see where Harpo's getting picked on.

All of the youngsters looks like pullets. If you end up with only 1 or 2 cockerels over all, then the lady you got them from didn't do too bad of a job sexing. Really fun selection of colors; very pretty!
