The Grand Experiment

Pics
I'm down 3 cobb, but I think they gave me a couple extra so still around 38-40 cobb and all the Ross. They move too fast to count.
LOL
Divide the brooder. I use a cardboard box. Lift #1, check pasty butt then into or other side of box. Lift #2, check pasty butt, etc. Easiest way I found to count. Other option is to glue numbers to their back like they do honey bees.

My first set of chicks, and I'm still new here, had a lot of pasty butt issues with 20% protein with Purina Chick Starter. Since then, feeding an 18% protein from M-G, I haven't seen any. Protein % or feed components?

Thanks for posting, I'm following. Harvesting my fall batch of CX now. They did NOT thrive like the spring bunch did. It's been hot and dry followed by hot, wet and mosquito laden. These are smaller than the spring batch by a noticeable amount. I have not weighed either. I'm looking for a 1-25 pound scale. I think a fish scale will do what I want.
