If you go with express mail it automatically comes with $100 in insurance.I agree with this totally! I know I have posted this before, but it bears repeating. I would probably add to the above, to get the name of the person shaking the box of eggs, document the time, date and postal location. File your complaint ASAP.
1. Go to the USPS website page and file a complaint with a customer service rep.You can call this number to actually speak with a representative. Call 1-800-ASK-USPS® (800-275-8777) Try to remain polite and professional and don't be harsh with the postal service people. Most of them try to do their best. I have a feeling that most of the damages caused to packages are caused by equipment, ie. loaders, conveyor belts, bins, etc. Be sure to get a name and document the time and nature of the complaint (remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease)~ https://www.usps.com/customer-service/customer-service.htm
2. Purchase insurance on all eggs going out and eggs coming in. Insurance is very inexpensive and worth every penny!
3. Although it is a little work to file a claim, follow through and you will receive a check within 30 days for the value of your eggs + shipping!
4. Photograph damages, document everything! Document everything!
