The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

@Wisher1000 all but 1 BCM and 1EE! I got a dozen blue copper and splash marans I found on Craigslist and 8 of them have hatched! @ladycat 1 of yours has hatched and another has pipped so far but they aren't due til Sunday.

Egg carton...it's in the left corner if the pic....this little feller was wiggling and hopping and drug his shell and all out of the carton.
@Wisher1000 so far one BCM (with fuzzy cheeks(hands clapping)) and two EE eggs have hatched and 5-7 BCM eggs are about to zip.

Awesome good to hear. I sure hope it works better for me then last years shipped eggs. I can't believe how bad it was last year. I believe last year i got 8 out of 90 eggs total to hatch. Lets pray this year I have a better rate with the egg cartons.

With shipped eggs, since they are supposed to be incubated upright, how is the hatch rate if you stick them under a broody?

I have one more set of chicken eggs showing up in a few days, and then a few quail eggs....

When I put shipped eggs set #3 into the incubator.... well..... I am gonna have to stack when set #4 shows up (i think the quail eggs will be fine, just slip between the chicken eggs).

I do however have a Cochin who has been very broody this past week.....

What would be the best choice for my hatch rate?

1. Stack all eggs in my wonderful Brinsea

2. Put shipped eggs, after letting them settle for a few hours, under the Cochin

3. Put shipped eggs that have been in my incubator for almost 2 weeks, under the Cochin.

Alaskan I would put the shipped eggs under the broody, have had my Silkies hatch eggs that did not hatch in the incubator - split shipments.
