The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

I cant win

What? I told everybody that you are one of my "special customers," that's winning, isn't it?

I kinda like the idea of using the already slightly incubated eggs, thinking that they have had more time to settle, so would have a better hatch than the newly arrived ones that might benefit from some more time to settle.

But, I am totally guessing, I wish someone had some data for me.
@ronott1 and I are going to try this idea soon

Well, even after picking up the Cochin, bringing her into the house, and putting her into a dog crate in an unused bathroom.... She is STILL broody!

SUPER RELIEF!

Now all of my eggs are being incubated. I gave her 6, all the same age, that were about a week and a half along. I candled them first, and picked only ones that looked really good (an exploding egg under a broody would be so horrid) :sick

I can't believe I have to wait over another week for chicks. Obviously patience is not one of my strengths.

Oh CRUD! I just realized that I put the broody in the bathroom where I usually brood my chicks. I am getting chicks shipped next week, and they will probably show up two days before her eggs hatch.

Do I need to keep the chicks where the broody cannot hear them? Will hearing new chicks make her leave her nest? :barnie
