I have been using powdered catfish feed for over a year on my chickens at a rate of only 1-2% it is strong protine at 28-32% if you use to much your chickens heads will turn red from being to hot for them. I use a 32oz. cup and I use 4 scoops of chicken grower finisher feed and a 1/4 scoop of catfish feed. However if I use two full cups of catfish feed in a 5 gal bucket of chicken feed the hens can go thru the molt and still lay eggs the whole time. But that is how I mix mine.

The first time I shipped eggs, I messed up and sent them the slowest way. They were in the mail a week, I think, and Ron still managed to hatch some! Don't give up yet.

They hatched fine!

Hopefully the eggs will not sit on a truck in the heat.

I got them yesterday. I am sure they probably got hot somewhere along the line as they left CA went to FL for 3 days then MO for 2 days then IL mailed the 1st received the 7th The bright side they were from a member on here so probably not very old when mailed and they were packed well .10 eggs looked ok..2 might have been leaking at some point if i get 1 or 2 chicks I would be happy , set all 12 crossed fingers my incubator is not all the way full as i just hatched some ..I probably have room for 12-18 more eggs ...but I have 3 broody hens sitting on a lot of eggs probably so trying not to fill the incubator also.

not too good rolling freely, but i figured there was still a chance and I usually have fairly good luck with shipped eggs

alot of people that have small ponds on their property use dog food. But here the commercial catfish farmers use the catfish feed for their fish.

I swear if cat food was cheaper I would feed my chickens cat food. They love raiding the cat food dish. I now have a big trash can that I have to put the cat food dish into. However one of the hens saw me do it one morning and she jumped inside, but couldn't get back out so now I have to use a different can with a cover to put the dish into. It seems like it is getting harder and harder to hide the dish. we even tried bringing it in the house for awhile and when I came in the door one day 10 hens all ran through the door and straight for the cat dish. Chickens are smarter then people think they are.
