What does that have to do with how it's defined as a tax? If my interaction is solely with an insurance company, albiet, forced by a govt. edict, how is it a tax. A tax must run through the govt. colletion system and be redistributed, as needed. If I don't pay the premium. I get penalized, unless of course, I can't pay, and then, I get rewarded, just like 50% of the people in this country who pay no income tax, and a huge number of those, who actually get free money for doing nothing more than throwing litters.

Now, if we sent everyone to jail who couldn't or refused to pay the tax, then, it would be a tax.

Or it must be based on usage, as in roads, gas, alcohol, tobacco, sales, etc,

We only need to look at "dedicated" taxes, such as SS or Medicaid to realize that they all become giant ponzi schemes with politicians and lobbyists skimming the cream for self agrandizment. Why is this one going to be any different? Have politicians suddenly developed a moral compass whent it comes to worn out knees and hips?

Nice post but didn't answer the question.

The Supreme Court determined it is a tax even after Obama argued that it was not a tax.

Article 1 section 8 of the US Constitution gives Congress the power to raise money to support the federal government. Section 7 requires laws regarding revenue and expenditures to begin in the House of Representatives, so ALL tax bills MUST be introduced by a member of the House of Representatives.

Obamacare was NOT introduced by a member of the house.

This alone should be enough to get it repealed.

That's alright no one can ever answer that question.

So why did you ask? I don't have any kids. I would have to say, there are more families with kids than single adults, or at least, at the time the law was embedded, thus finding favorability with a large target.
