That's asesome, cmom!!! Always nice to get 100%. My last hatch was 100%, but that was with only 7 eggs. I don't expect to get close to that with these eggs, but I was well aware of the hazards shipped eggs face in transit. One thing's for sure... I'm on track to do much better than 3 out of 15. It may be presumptious, but I'm anticipating double that at a minimum. I have 14 that are developing beautifully, and several more that I thinm will be okay... and they're equally split between the two batches ( 7 of #1 and 7 of #5). Congratulations on 100%!!!!!!!!All of my #5 eggs hatched. I had them all in one hatcher and everyone hatched 100%. I usually have very good hatches but hardly ever 100&. I know it's not the same when you ship eggs. A couple of years ago I got 3 out of 15 on RIR shipped eggs, one male and 2 females.
Can't help with a knot on the leg. Maybe a PM to @casportpony (our local pathologist) will help.Can somebody tell me the cure for these chick?
You should name it "Lucky"...This is what made my hatch of my #5 eggs a 100% hatch.

What you mean go into the freezer?
She means they were processed and frozen so they can be eaten later. If you feed and raise them, and they aren't good enough for breeding, you might as well get some good out of them... so you make a meal out of them.

Yes, some go to freezer camp. I have hatch out thousands of chicks through the years and around 50% turn out to be males. Only the males that won't make good breeders will get processed. I do try to sell my best males and keep the best as future breeders. I show birds and love to show them and sometimes one will get a champion.. I have never beaten Matt at shows we both have been at.

Ya I run into the same problem hatching 50% or more Male's is about what I get and even though it is a heart breaker and some are beautiful there is just so much room and feed and again some can be sold but I am not going to give them away except for special circumstances so freezer camp is the best way to go .
