The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

has any one heard of George Ryan or Anthony Autry out of Arkansas? I have some RIR eggs that are out of those lines and I was wondering if any ones heard of them...thanks, Eric

This guy is going to cross production Reds into my old line to improve fertility. Big mistake they will never be pure again so watch out if you buy birds from in future years. However, what you need to do is cross a male or female from the Florida Illinois Cross into this line then you will not dis troy the gene pool and also have increase in fertility. Thought you might like to see this. Also, for you beginners who come over to this thread you can see the real rhode island reds and the contrast between a production red which you may own. I bet this big Red male is not mean. bob

here is the article I wrote last year to explan the history.

Mr. Bob,
I also saw where this guy was talking about crossing the production Reds with the Heritage and I was wondering about that too. When I saw your post it answered my question.

Was working on my web site which I lost the pass word to and finally got in. I typed in the History of the Mohawk Rhode Island Reds in my search engine and found this page. Interesting video of my old line male looks pretty good. Look at the color of these Reds. This guy is going to cross production Reds into my old line to improve fertility. III have 6 Rhode Island red Hens that I wanted you to look at and tell me what do you think of them? I was amazed that 2 of them have gone broody this spring. They are dark red in color.

These females look like they are half and half look at the narrowing in the back not wide like a 2x6 in width. Color is dark but not even. Nice females how ever. I could have used them for broody hens for my duck eggs.

In regards to the two breeders. I know of a Roy Autry and that would have to be him. He has a good strain of reds.

The other person they tell me had reds for fifty years and started out with Murry McMurry birds. He is not in the Rhode Island Red Club Hall of fame or on my top 50 breeders list of the last 100 years. Dont know much about his strain.

These are the Bill Bennett Strain of Georgia. A friend sent me a picture to show me the birds. The sure look like Georgia type Reds from the 60s to me. Thanks for the picture. Are they to light in color?

Need more pictures of Reds to keep our blood going. bob
