Bob,He will be fine just think of what he will look like next year as a cock bird. Schilling use to say you guys should hire me to paint you a cut for a Red Ckl and a Red Pullet.
Remember he said the picture you look at in the American Standard of Perfection is a 18 month old cock and hen bird.
He is a true Standard Breed Rhode Island Red. This is at least a true Version of what they should look like on the ground. So lurkers who have feed store production reds this is what we preach on this thread for the past two years. Very good job we are proud of your work and your interest in the breed.
I may be misunderstanding you or you misunderstanding me but I never said that the bird wasn't a Standard Bred Red.
Now I could be wrong but I don't think that age is going to fix tail angle and levelness of back all that much. As you know a Male Red should have a tail angle of 20* and a level and flat back, the bird that Chris H posted has a level tail and a roach back.
I have to say I never use the pictures that are in the standard, they are only the artists interpretation of the written part of the standard.
