The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Quote: When I was a kid we would have a pack of kids and we promised to be friends help each other and be true and never lie to each other. We would then take a jack knife and cut our wrists and the blood would then go from his to mine. We where blood brothers like the Indians we saw do this on TV.

This is kind of the same thing. Do your very best what ever breed or strain you take on to preserve for the future generations and also share your strain with others who have the same blood lines. If we do this for many years with the simple idea to help the future generations then these rare breeds will be around for many many years even when we are gone.

Thanks for your loyalty. We are doing this for our breed and the great men and women who pass them on to us to take care of.

Oh my gosh Bob, I haven't even thought of that for soooo many years. We used to do that to. Friendship really did mean something back then between kids. Now a days it doesn't seem to mean much. Did you ever smoke the old corn silk wrapped up in newpaper. lol Oh my, the good old days.

For the Kittle issue Wilford Kittle was the son and R Floyd Kittle. Daddy Kittle was the father who started the Red Farm years ago in Pittsburg Penn Found this in a 1960s Rhode Island Red Chronicle. bob

Hello all, great thread, very informative and some beautiful pics! We were looking for some genuine RIRs, my wife insists that our production reds are nothing like the reds she remembers growing up in RI lol. I have found some online breeders but before we order just wanted to see if there was anyone locally breeding RIRs, rather support local businesses and pick up our chicks instead of having them shipped. We are located near Colorado Springs, CO. Thanks!

MR. Horstman is now taking orders for Rose Comb and Single Comb RIR chicks and eggs. Look in the Buy/Sell/Trade section of BYC. There is no telling what you might get if you do not buy from a reputable breeder here on byc or get advice first.

I think I'm going to get some Gary Underwood bantams.
