Nice looking birds Jimmmy..
How many eggs did you order to get 12 hatched? 12 is a really nice number to work with.
I got 18 eggs, 15 made it to lock down and 12 hatched. All 12 are really nice, friendly birds. As you can see in the last picture, Miss Smarty Pants has to sit up on the side of their pen. lol I get down on one knee and put my arm down in their pen 5 - 6 times a day and they come right over and start pecking on my sleeve and finger nails. There are a couple of the pullets and the SC cockerel that come over and start their cooing when I start petting on them. It is so nice to know that I won't have a bunch of cockerels to cull through when the time comes. I will keep all three of these boys. I have one pullet that hatched last April that is Underwood so if all goes well I will have 6 SC and 4 RC pullets to work with next fall. I'm really pleased with these numbers.

Thanks for the comments.

Dang Jimmy they are looking soooo good. I am so happy with these birds. Mine are friendly but watchful, and inquisitive but alert, they were a bit confused when they first saw the pig and goat outside their run, though. It was funny to watch. I can't wait to see them when they are adults.

Hey Penny,
Just wait until they get a chance to get into the goat pen and scratch around in the manure. They won't be afraid then. They will love it. lol I don't have any other stock but when we did, the chickens loved getting into the manure piles from the milk cow. lol AND oh what yokes that made in the eggs. ha,ha. mmmmm

Jimmy, LOL, yea my free-range layers follow the tail end of our pig around all day long. The pig and goat free-range as well so the birds that are out free-ranging do eat well. We let everything free-range when they are big enough. Not sure if I am going to take a chance free-ranging my RIRs though, at least not until I get a big enough flock of them.

Hey Jeff,
Hope all has been well with you. Great hearing from you also.

Here is one of my Underwood cockerels, needs a little elevation in the tail but I hope that comes with age
WOW OSUman. He sure does look nice to my eye and I would be very pleased if my cockerels turn out that nice. He sure is dark. I think with what I've observed with most of my birds that his tail will raise a little. I would not cull him just because of that though. lol Just something else to work on. You sure do have the straight back and brick shape. He appears very laid back and easy going. Can you tell I like him????
Jim
How old is he???????
