The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

I was really concerned about my Reds dealing with this heat since they are from Northern stock but so far I have had no problems. They are all in a heavily wooded area and everybody free-ranges except my Red cockerels, they are in a covered pen under trees so it stays a tad cooler.

Here is a pic of what some of my animals do during the heat of the day - siesta time.

HAH! Love this so much! That is some pig!

Not hot here on Whidbey Island. Blue skys, slightest of breezes off the Puget Sound and a balmy 75 degrees. Don't hate me.

Love the pot belly pig picture--reminds me of my old bloodhound who used to let the small dogs sleep on him, LOL. Mumsy, could you not get your old posting name back--we all know you aren't "just hatched." Glad you got fixed. My 13 week old Fogle HRIR's got a big growth spurt last week. They are all looking so tall now.

Love the pig that was neat.

Got a request from a fellow he wants to show his large fowl reds this year but has no clue how to go about it.

I am going to right a step by step three month pre show article. Every Thing you need to know but was afraid to ask.

It will be Called: I want to Show my Large Fowl Reds but I don't Know How.

You keep raising them and feeding them well and I will give the steps and just don't be afraid. Once their at the show in the cage they will be fine.

So stay tuned. bob

Nope. I can't get a new password from BYC for my original profile. I gave up trying. The confirmation email from BYC does not come to my address. It's just not worth it to me to keep jumping through the same hoop and get no scooby snack. I'm ok with being a new egg. Most folks know I've been around the block a couple times.

Had to post some updated pics of the chicks I got from Ron. There around 19 weeks old now!

Here's Sir Walter with a few pullets. Him and most of the hens I think have very good type. Maybe wrong, but look very brick shape to me.

Here is Jr. The small cockerel. He's looking nice, just not as big as Sir Walter.

And then a few pullets!

You're not wrong, he's shaping up nicely. I really like the look of the #44 pullet.
